Is he starting today? They are playing as we speak and it is 1-1 in the '33rd.

Its a midweek fixture after a weekend fixture. Could just be squad rotation.

    Almost certainly a rotation.

He went 82' against Nurnberg II team at the weekend in a 2nd versus 3rd in the table clash, and this game was against a relegation struggler. He's also started every other game in RL Bayern and has always gone 70' or more. Rotation it was IMO.

If it wasn't, maybe, he had a minor strain after the weekend and they didn't want to push him.

Bayern had two of the second team players on the bench today, Gaudino and Benko. Benko plays some similar positions to Green.

Benko was in the first team squad recently for a game but was Green's back up in this game. There's something strange about that. Maybe Green has more of a chance than we think to get another chance with the first team?

Or maybe Bayern is so stacked with good players competing with one another that not even a player regarded as a top world talent - a man who won a world cup - has not locked down a starting position. That's Gotze, btw, and maybe Julian Green is really good but trying to get time on what is now probably the best club team in the world.

Green isn't exactly tearing it up with Bayern II. Benko is 17 and showing promise. Scholl, Gaudino, Kurt, Green, and Benko will all have to work extremely hard and continue to grow in order to make it. Bayern don't have to rely on their academy it's a luxury

    Exactly.

There's nothing "strange" about Benko getting a cup of coffee with the I Team and then being rotated back to the II Team. Bayern are stacked with talent in both teams, as well as the players out on loan. Benko was with the I Team as encouragement/reward for his good work so far as well as a challenge to his mental strength.

Now he's back to the struggle to make a permanent breakthrough when the odds are so stacked against him, and stacked they are: Rumenigge, and Hoeness have both been quoted recently as saying that the streams of cash flowing in to FC Hollywood enables them to go out and buy if the have to rather that see if a II Team kid will come through, creating a real lack of opportunities for the youth team players.

Green and Benko are in the same position as all those guys mentioned above, plus Steeven Riberry, Joshua Kimmich, Jan Kirchhoff and Kingsley Coman. The thing is, Green is older than all but 2-3 of the guys on both of those lists. If he's not getting I Team minutes somewhere (anywhere??) in the New Year it's time to get really worried.

Those guys aren't in the same position at all. Kirchhoff is 25 and only still at the club because he's recovering from a serious injury.

Kimmich and Coman are first team players getting regular playing time, in fact Bayern just spent 7M on Coman for a two-year loan and have the option to buy him for 21M which they will probably do. If you want to see how you can impress at Bayern as a 19 year old attacking player, watch this kid play.

I don't know why Green is wasting this season playing 4th division football, he's defintiely not getting any first team action.

Yup, I am still surprised he did not move to a smaller team like Mitchell Weiser and others in the summer. Was Hamburg that traumatic?

He got homesick. Also: nobody wants to pay him what he thinks he deserves in €€€

He could've angled for a move to Ingolstadt or Augsburg or Nürnberg or whatever. Looking at the way Alessandro Schöpf is developing with us, I think it would've done him good.

You're right. It's just that they wont ever pay him the 1 mil per year that he got at Hamburg. Anything below seems to be beneath his dignity.
