Because I'm from Holland. Actually I'm from Rotterdam and I live from walking distance to Kuip. This was never going to be done in 24 hours. It's ridiculous you expect something like this. As I said, our police aren't very good and they don't have a lot experience with cases like this. Situations like this don't happen a lot in The Netherlands.
Judge for yourself; here are pictures of what happened in downtown Rome. No question that some of these hooligans can be easily identified.
That's just nonsense, but then you just seem to be looking for scapegoats, as your remarks so far suggest. A club can't police the whole of Rome with stewards, heck Italian law enforcement couldn't do it. You do realize that these hooligans traveled independently and may not even have had match tickets or bought them locally? Sure they might be identified after incidents from footage, and the authorities have access to the personal ID database of the clubs/FA, but that doesn't prevent it from happening. While a costly nuisance there is no fear of these groups as for example the major of Amsterdam has banned Feyenoord away support from league games and Rotterdam police shot and killed rioting Feyenoord hooligans when they disrupted a beach party in 2007. There wasn't even a football match. During the league this type of incidents can't happen because: 1) stadium bans means you can't buy tickets to games. 2) away support has to travel with organized bus trips otherwise you can't gain entrance to the stadium. 3) authorities in hosting cities can refuse entrance to town and/or hold any independently traveling football fans. The only time these groups can have an impact these days is during friendlies abroad and European cup games when it is impossible to fully isolate traveling support from the host city.
I think we all agree what happened in Rome was awful, but we aren't going to solve hooligan problems here.
