There's just no end to the Aílton news these days - now he's gonna play for German 7th division side VfB Peine (which is about 20 minutes away from me). Not regularily, though - he'll join them as a marketing gag for a friendly. http://www.paz-online.de/Peiner-Land/PAZ-Sport/Uebersicht/Kugelblitz-Ailton-stuermt-fuer-VfB-Peine
This is so ********ing sad: Aílton is close to sign with German 6th division side Hassia Bingen for the season.
And Aílton has officially joined Hassia Bingen. He's become the soccer equivalent of a has-been actor who makes his living from hosting shopping mall openings. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...tellt-ailton-vor_ich-bin-100-prozent-fit.html His comment: "Ailton spielt für ein Jahr bei Hassia Bingen und versucht, viele Tore zu schießen"
For completeness sake - Aílton, who is still playing for Hassia Bingen, has been in negotiations with 9th division side Atlas Delmenhorst (near Bremen) for next season. Delmenhorst aim for promtion to the 8th division, and want to strengthen the squad with Aílton there.
Atlas Delmenhorst had some (Regionalliga and Oberliga) tradition, but went bankrupt in 2002 (main sponsor sold to a company from Munich, no more love for the club). The new Atlas was founded last year, funny Ailton is connected with them.
Don't remind me. You haven't lived until you have seen your club play a league match against Delmenhorst.
I vaguely remember seeing a video of Ailton celebrating naked with champagne in the Werder Bremen locker room after they had clinched the Bundesliga. So there's that.
It's ok - has a nice park, and some interesting 19th century industrial architecture. I spent two days in Delmenhorst on an university field trip a few years ago. For a course on Volksgemeinschaft* in Lower Saxony. * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volksgemeinschaft
