Thinking about the names of the Nigerian players, they seem to be lots of Christians. I wonder if there are Muslim women on the team. There is religious strife in Nigeria. Wonder how that impacts team chemistry?
Unwatchable match. This is the worst US team I have ever seen in terms of keeping possession and building up.
US needs to make some subs to change up this game and get some energy going. I still think Boxx needs to go, but I would like to see Wambach get some rest with her broken toe and 11 stitches.
JP, I don't think Cat didn't take Perpetua down b/c she was worried about the fair play tie breaker. I think she was worried about getting a foul called in the box or in a (very) dangerous spot. That or she couldn't catch up.... Bad defensive sequence.

I think this has always been true of the Nigerian women. The women's football heartland of Nigeria is in the southeast, which is Christian. Back in 1999 I remember reports that they would fast togehter before matches, so it's probably more of a unifying factor. I think there have been a handful of Muslim players in the past.
