As for who is next? I'd put Lahm at the top of the list. Otherwise Ozil, Ballack, and Tasci all have the chance to make it based on play in the next World Cup. I love Gomez (as a Vfb fan) but I don't think he has what it takes.

Did Kicker always do a summer and winter ranking?
Here is what I found from random forums discussing the kicker rangliste and the kicker.de website:
    Summer 2010 Weltklasse: Schweinsteiger, Müller
    Winter 2010 Weltklasse: Neuer
    Summer 2011 Weltklasse: Neuer, Gomez
    Winter 2011 Weltklasse:

    Summer 2012 Weltklasse:
    Winter 2012 Weltklasse: Götze

Ever since they published their first ranking back in January 1956 (which looked back on 1955).

I will have to update this thread someday, adding new players as well as getting the picture links working again...

isnt it a bit odd that effenberg gets only 1 nod, and that is for 2000. in 2001 he was the daddy of the cl winning side, getting revenge on both united and madrid along the way, for the previous 2 years kos, and im sure he must have had at least 1 other decent season in the previous 10 years of his career.

I'm very surprised that Lahm has never been rated world class by Kicker.

Random question, but do you have any pre-89 Kicker Almanachs? :)

Thanks for looking, though :). I need some stats from the defunct German U-23 team, which I couldn't find online so far. As far as I know, they were last included in the Kicker Almanachs during the 80s (my earliest editions are from the 90s as well). Maybe I'll get a cheap copy from ebay if I find one.

    That is no problem.

I just ordered every Kicker Almanach of the 1980s from my library.

I will have a look and copy any info I find on the U23 team.

That's awesome, thanks. My library throws them out after a few years and has only recent ones (I actually have some photocopies from Kicker Almanachs I made 20 or so years ago at the library, but the oldest one they still have now is from 2008).

Well I'm lucky I have the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek just a few blocks away from me. They have Kicker Almanachs going back to 1941.

If not for this second half of the season then he'll never be.

    Equilibrium and Fernando_Bayern_BR repped this.

Jupp Heynckes (ca. 1975) and also Klaus Fischer (ca. 1977) are the most notable absentees I guess.

Two more world class players with Marco Reus and Thomas Müller.

    Weltklasse

    1. Thomas Müller 23 FC Bayern München (IK-2.)
    2. Arjen Robben 29 FC Bayern München (–)
    3. Franck Ribery 30 FC Bayern München (WK-1.)
    4. Marco Reus 24 Borussia Dortmund (IK-3.)

Interesting outlook. Kicker already announced the total number of world class players for their list this summer and now there are only three positions left but 4 candidates:

    Schweinsteiger
    Gündogan
    Martínez
    Lewandowski

Let's wait how that plays out.

I'm guessing Schweinsteiger, Gündogan, and Lewandowski adding two more Germans to the list
