In rich country like Japan they don't show their warming up games on TV?

That is just some sick sht. I guess you poor japanese wont see every WC game on TV neither?

    I'd be content with a 1-0 defeat
I'll be over the moon with a draw or win
    2-0 defeat would be dissapointing,
3-0 defeat will be a DISASTER

It sucks that TV Asahi is not broadcasting the match "LIVE".

According to their web-site, TV Asahi is showing the Japan-Germany match on May 31, from 4:25 AM - 6:55 AM (Japan time). So by the looks of it, it will be on, BUT on an about 1.5 hour TAPE DELAY.

I don't see why not they broadcast it live from 3:30 - 5:30 AM, then can go into their morning news program afterwards.

    VN:confused:

I think Japan can manage a 0-0 tie if they play at their best.
Always tough when playing against the home team

This makes such obvious good sense that Im surprised to see anyone complaining.

According to the TV schedule, kickoff will be at 5AM. Most office workers either already get up at 5AM or will only have to get up an hour or so early. They can watch the game and then leave for work after it ends, and most will still get to work on time. If they showed it live, most people would record it and watch it later, which means a much lower rating which means MUCH MUCH less advertising money. Those who did get up to watch it live would have a poor nights sleep and those who watched it on tape would probably already know the score.

The way they have it scheduled is good for viewers, good for the company's profits, and good for the advertisers. Why would they make things hard on everyone, just to show it live?

In case anyone is living in Japan and is trying to figure out what time and channel any game of the World Cup is on. Try this web-site

    http://www.tvguide.or.jp

You can choose what area (prefecture) you will be watching TV in, and find out the details from there. Although, it only goes 7 days in advance. Just trying to help.

They will broadcast all games on NHK live spread out between BS1 and NHK General. Here is the link to the info and pdf file schedule for TV and NHK radio (Japanese only) http://www.nhk.or.jp/worldcup/index.html
Some of the game that come on real early in the morning will be re-broadcast later the same day.

Oh well, I guess in the end, CASH RULES ALMOST EVERYTHING, for the TV Networks.
I just wish I didn't start work at 6 AM, and no I don't have TV at work either, just internet. So, the VCR will have to work for me on that day.
I hope its not a repeat of Yokohama 2004.

I will be optimistic here. I predict that Japan will win 2-1.

Rationally thinking, even this not-so-doing-good-at-all Germany is a tough
opponent, especially with home advantage. But I have this feeling that Japan
is going to surprise the world again.

Whenever Japan played well against world's top-class or next-to-top-class teams, Japan had the advantage of having their Euro-leaguers play in the
team for considerable amount of time, as opposed to get-go-scramble they
often had to do during Asian qualifying rounds. The games I talk about are
    the follows:

    2003 Confederation Cup
VS France 1-2 Defeat (in France)
    2004 expedition in Europe
VS Czech 1-0 Victory (in Czech)
VS England 1-1 Tie (in England)
    2005 Confederation Cup
VS Brazil 2-2 Tie (in Germany)

This time, with 2 weeks of training in Japan with their best members, Japan is
likely at the best it had ever been. All of the Japanese newspapers are
reporting about combination/strategy-related practices the NT has been doing
(which was quite rare under Zico's reign), and how just about all of the players
are trading opinions left and right (including the infamous Nakata, who's
actually acting friendly) to fine-tune the team dynamics.

I sense a miracle coming. Hope my optimism won't end up as an embarassment.

Germany defeated Luxembourg 7-0 yesterday, they are not the best team but 7-0 is a strong result.

Among two of my favorite teams in the World Cup (Germany being [of course :D ] #1, Japan #3 for me). I hope nobody gets injured and a good performance for both teams. :)
