3rd greater international sport event (FIFA menWC and SumOlimpics are 1 n 2) speaking of a competition between nations not clubs or franquicies. FIBA WC? Rugby WC? Ice sky Series? Chess Masters? Panamerican Games? too many options to make a pool.
I think in terms of size - i.e. crowd numbers, worldwide TV audience etc. - it is the Rugby World Cup. I know that's not an event which appeals to many parts of the world, but it is very big in quite a few countries.
The only other international event that gets numbers in the US are the Winter Olympics. Maybe the X-Games if you'd consider those international sporting events. So not sure you're going to get that much help from US posters. btw, What's an Ice sky Series? A quick google search didn't turn anything up.
Nope. Across the world, it's much easier to be a Man U or Real Madrid fan than it is to be a Spain or Italy fan.
It is as follows: 3. Rugby world cup 4. World athletics championships 5. Cricket world cup 6. World Basketball Championships or the Winter Olympics
'Broadly speaking, the FIFA World Cup and the Summer Olympics are by far the two most-watched sporting events, with the UEFA European Championship ranked third. There's then quite a large gap to…the FIA Formula One World Championship, NFL Super Bowl and the IOC Winter Olympics.' - K. Alavy Still the EURO2012 final did attract a larger (average) audience than any of the single events at the Summer Olympics ... the men's 100 metres final boasted the highest viewing numbers, yet the EURO2012 final eclipses those numbers. Arguably the FIFA World Cup (final) is the biggest event ... UEFA European Championship (final) has a lot of ground to cover but is rapidly catching up (also the expansion in 2016 might boost viewing numbers) ... the UCL final would come in 3th yet isn't contested between NTs ... 3th place probably will go to the Rugby World Cup (final) but a Cricket World Cup final between India and Pakistan would draw a crowd too.
S So the Champions league is bigger than the Euros or what? I don't understand your paragraph, i just understand the graphs only.
No the Euro final attracts more viewers than the UCL final. The viewing numbers of the FIFA WC final are still the highest but they're increasing much slower than those of the Euros (= 2nd highest and catching up). Still the viewership of the UCL final (= 3th highest numbers) grows even faster but because clubs with varying degrees of global appeal make it to the final there's less consistency, e.g. a very popular club reaching the UCL final has a bigger impact.
