Well, it has to be added that the rain caused flood in parts of Saxony (3 dead so far). The flood is nowhere near Munich, but I guess the rain was pretty bad there too.

Wow, bad year for weather in Europe. Sorry to learn the flooding was so serious.

    Hello

Can you please tell me what happend to Jena on wedensday? was this just a bad game or are they expected to struggle this season? still 7-0 against Saarbrücken is a shock result in my view.

Rabenschwarzer Tag für Carl Zeiss Jena

    :(

Still, they are now 2-0-2 and midtable on points, so I wouldn't read too much into this. Just a really bad day at the office.

Well, Jena don't have a very good team. They actually started better than I expected. Of course a 0:7 is surprising, especially against Saarbrücken - but Jena are one of the weakest teams in the league.

They lost 8 regulars from last season and didn't get replacements of the same quality, as they are still in financial trouble.

Both clubs and the police have stated, that the reports were exaggerated. And fwiw, posters in the Saarbrücken forum say that Jena fans were heavily provoked by some Saarbrücken fans, icluding Saarbrücken fans throwing stuff at Jena fans (and the posters are Saarbrücken fans with post counts in the four digits, so probably not fake).

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

Hi.. newer fan to the 3. Liga and just wanted to say hi and ask a few questions.

I've adopted SV Wehen Wiesbaden as the team I will follow. I chose them cause on my dad's side of the family my great grandpa came over from Wiesbaden back in the mid 1800's. I've learned that SV WW was originally just SV Wehen and only added Wiesbaden when they I guess when they started playing in Brita Arena in Wiesbaden. So I'll just give some numbered questions. :p

    1) Will they most likely stay linked to Wiesbaden or is if they ever get relegated down would they leave Brita Arena and drop the name?

    2) I noticed at one time they were up in the Bundesliga 2.. and what are the chances of them getting promoted at all soon? As in are they a good, mediocre or bad team?

    3) Are any 3.Liga and specifically SV WW matches streamed online anywhere to watch?

    4) I'm currently using Weltfussball.de as the site I use to keep track of scores and stats since it has it all translated into English. Are their any other good sites that have their sites also in English that cover 3.Liga?

Well I guess that's all I have to ask for now..

As for me? Well I'm from the metro burbs of St. Louis and my main team is AC St. Louis that plays in the USSF Division 2 league this year. I also follow FC Bayern Munich and have for about 10 years. Originally just casually but as I really got into soccer.. I mean football.. I've started to follow them a lot more now. I ended up following them simply because they were the first Bundesliga team I saw on tv one year. lol

This is in German, but this is where you might be able find highlights of their matches - look for the video camera next to the headline.

For example, here are the highlights of the recent derby against Offenbach.

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

The club is still based in Wehen. The current stadium was only supposed to be a short-term solution, a new stadium was supposed to be build in Wiesbaden. However, who knows if that will happen - they hardly ever fill half of their stadium in the third division, if they should go down even further...

But they shouldn't be in danger of relegation this year. Likely mid-table.

Well, as I said - the first four games were against (likely) bottom of the table teams. But Regensburg weren't horrible against Braunschweig - well, as far as the play in the first half goes at least. But two (absolutely deserved) red cards in the first half didn't help them.

From the highlights and match reports, the second half looked more like a training match then, with Braunschweig playing it save and keeping easy possession after going up 3:0.

It is a long season, of course. I fully expect Michi Hoffmann to help keep Regensburg in the fight for the top three places. The defending must improve and, of course, there has to be some consistency in scoring goals.

Another week another update. Carl Zeiss Jena continues their slide downward while FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt gets the first major upset over Kickers Offenbach. Regensburg moves up into 3rd after Wiesbaden can only draw with Dynamo Dresden. Hansa Rostock gains the top spot this week on goals against differential after they draw Burghausen and VfR Aalen stays at the bottom as they manage a draw with Eintracht Braunschweig.

Rostock - Eintracht is live on NDR today, so I guess I'll watch that one.

I'm very pleased with the season so far. I'm sure I've mentioned it before - but it's ********ing great that there is finally a club leadership and a coach who both know what they are doing. It's not as if that has happened before during the last 30 years (well, Michael Krüger was decent as a coach as well, but the club was run by the same old same old back then still). They have me cloooose to go to some games again... now that's change we can believe in.

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

Well looks like I'll be making 2 posts this weekend. I missed week 9's games cause I overlooked them being midweek matches. So I'll get week 9 up now, and after the 2 games today for week 10 I'll get them up then.

In Week 9 we saw Braunschweig roll over Rot-Weiß Erfurt 4 -0. Kickers took out Rostock 3-2 and Weisbaden drew for the second straight week. Kickers kept the top spot, Braunschweig moved into 2nd, Rostock dropped to 3rd with Ragensburg and Wiesbaden rounding out the top five. Jena continues it's winless streak by drawing VfR Aalen. Bremen II and Bayern Munich II drop to the bottom slots.

VfB Stuttgart II : SpVgg Unterhaching 1:1 (0:0)

HT, Eintracht relying on defense. That's a proper approach, but Rostock with too many chances for my tastes. Some insecurities in defense, too - fortunately Rostock has no Occean. And the counter attacks fell flat so far. Rostock with some nice build-up, but no finishing. Liebrknecht should bring in Reinhardt - guy knows how to score from distance, exactly what's needed now.

And the commentator is ridiculous again. That hooliganism fear mongering makes the patriot act look like a calm response. He spends more time talking abouzt how he hopes there won't be riots than he does about the game, and a smoke bomb is treated as if WWIII just broke out.

Bah, ********ing Ossis. We get them bananas, and for what?

Eintracht more attacking in the second half, quick goal, Rostock equalize on a penalty. They did have two huge chances after that, to be fair, but a solid away game by Braunschweig. And then Rostock scores in the last minute of injury time, ******** that. But it's a long season, my extremely short haired friends.
