Akron Punches the Win Column with a 2-0 Victory Over VCU. https://gozips.com/news/2019/10/2/m...e-win-column-with-a-2-0-victory-over-vcu.aspx
They are old friends, but they were actually barking at each other at one point during the contest. I could not quite make out the conversation from across the pitch.
Tom played last night. Part of Zips struggles this year can be attributed to no one seizing LB or RB. Combine that with the fact that three of our best eleven players play CB, which hardly works with a four back system. I say when you have the luxury of three CBs, you change to three man back line, adding another MF. No one listens to me. Math is not my strong suit, but I think the result is nine permutations of our back four. Tom Smart is in that mix, probably now in a supporting role.
In French we have an expression: 'C'est comme les coups de marteau sur les doigts, c'est bon quand cela s'arrête'. Translated as: 'It's like hammering on the fingers, it's good when it stops'. Did you have a cigarette after the climax?
Akron Battles No. 10 Florida International to a 1-1 2OT Draw. Very disappointing! https://gozips.com/news/2019/10/5/m...-florida-international-to-a-1-1-2ot-draw.aspx
There have been four-year players at Akron who lost fewer games in their college careers than the Zips have this year. The former just makes the latter all the more baffling.
I hear you, but Bulldogs resembled middle of the pack MAC team, in my estimation. Nothing special at all. Scrappy, perhaps?
Fair enough. But ignoring records, and ignoring RPI; just looking at the soccer played, Florida International looks like a much better side than Butler. Anybody can beat Akron right now. Butler looks pedestrian to me. I would love for Zips to improve to “pedestrian”. Right now Zips suck.
Scrappy and a bit of an advantage - they play on artificial turf. That was the first game our boys played on it.
And how many different sports are played on that field? At least four? There are lines all over the place.
Golden Goal Propels Butler to 1-0 2OT Win Over Akron. https://gozips.com/news/2019/10/8/m...propels-butler-to-1-0-2ot-win-over-akron.aspx Zips presumably practice at least a little bit on defending Corner Kicks. All evidence to the contrary!
AKR 2-1 BGS Zips Open MAC Play with a 2-1 Victory Over Bowling Green. https://gozips.com/news/2019/10/12/...2-1-victory-over-bowling-green.aspx?path=msoc The Zips (2-8-1, 1-0-0 MAC) dominated the contest registering a 20-6 edge in shots, including posting a season-high 10 shots on goal for a 10-3 advantage in shots on frame.
