"Darlington Nagbe is the most skilled American midfielder in the game."@AlexiLalas sounds off on one of the most polarizing, under-appreciated players in the U.S. pic.twitter.com/rqB9EJDU6P— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) September 4, 2019 This just as easily belongs on any number of BS.com forum threads. It is the USMNT, after all. I choose to put it here because of the special place Darlington Nagbe occupies in the hearts of all Zips fans.
Thanks for sharing. I like Nagbe a lot but I always take anything that comes out of Lalas' mouth with a grain of salt and skepticism. He mentioned Pulisic. I'm cheering for him but he's having a rough go of it in at Chelsea. The Blues fans have high expectations for him. I'm pulling for him and hope that he makes it.
Destination Omaha as No. 9 Akron Faces Road Test at Creighton. https://gozips.com/news/2019/9/5/me...n-faces-road-test-at-creighton.aspx?path=msoc
Much respect for Creighton and their Men's Soccer program. They finally got us. https://gozips.com/news/2019/9/6/mens-soccer-creighton-edges-akron-2-1.aspx?path=msoc
I was at the Xavier game and wrote here what I thought were some of the Zips' problems in that game. I didn't see either Stanford or Creighton. To anyone that watched those games, what seems to be the issue? In looking at stats Akron seems to be giving up a lot of shots. That indicates to me that they're not holding possession. Through 3 games Akron does have more shots on frame than their opponents so that tells me they're having issues with finishing. Any insight? I'm confident that they'll right themselves but the early season, at least the past few seasons, always seems to be a bit shaky.
Quality is lacking in finishing. I also think a formation change would bolster defensive midfield. But the next time Coach Embick sincerely asks for my advice will be the first time No rest for the weary. Ludwig awaits come Friday the 13th.
It was a big monkey to get off the back of the Creighton program. There have been some great battles over the years, but the Jays had always fallen short. The most painful was the 3-2 2OT setback at a raucous Cub Cadet Field in the 2015 NCAA quarterfinals. The College Cup was in Kansas City that year, and there would have been 10K+ Bluejays fans there had Creighton advanced. With no dominant team that year and an excellent offense, Creighton would've had a great chance to win their first national championship in any sport. But alas.
I remember that match very well. Adam Najem’s curling FK winner from the top of the D in 2OT. Akron and Creighton should play every season, rotating home/away for next 30 years. Fine by me. I root for Blue Jays vs. anyone except Zips. You guys get it.

This is why I don't gamble on sports. Never would've guessed that an Akron team that has been to three of the last four College Cups and played some of the most attractive, attacking soccer in the country would start the season 0-5-0 and only score two goals. That said, I think the schedule the rest of the way favors them and there's only a couple of games where they'll not be favored to win. A turn-around is quite likely and I still expect this team to be a factor in the NCAA Tournament. But, damn...
but they need to figure out a way to generate more good opportunities and then convert these chances. They brought Egbo back into the midfield in the 2H to get more touches. The numerous injuries, such as #4, leaving for much of the 2nd half doesn't help with his ability to get down the line.

What a shitshow. Fully deserved the loss tonight. Lucky to take it to OT. Played aggressively for about 20 total minutes, which - shock! - is when they actually played well. Something is seriously broken.

I still think the Zips make the NCAA Tournament. WVU is the only really good team in the MAC and it ain't like they can't be beaten. Granted, they will probably have to win the automatic bid, but it's not like this is some impossible hurdle.
Based on the shite ball played last Saturday, it is difficult imagining this Zips squad beating anyone. I will be there Wednesday nonetheless. https://getsomemaction.com/news/2019/9/28/mens-soccer.aspx
While my team is struggling with an injury parade, Zips fans are suffering through a truly abysmal season. Some of the best fans in college soccer deserve better!
Statistical records in the 50s and 60s are sketchy for NCAA MSOC. But as far as we can tell, there has never been a 0-0-4 (W-D-L) start in program history. As previously mentioned, 2019 marks the program’s 65th anniversary. We are currently at 0-0-7 and counting.
