I've been told repeatedly that this was somehow the team's fault and not just the case of a HGP who turned out to have a low ceiling as a pro. Was there some bigger backstory on that kid?

Victor had a bad injury (knee?), IIRC.

Victor was treated like shit because the org didn’t have the resources to do anything well.

  4. He had a torn meniscus that, because he was young, was surgically repaired in the off season that and cost the first part of 2014. Victor was a dynamic attacking player, but wasn't responsible tracking runners in his own half. I vividly remember this goal that capped an RSL stoppage time comeback. He came in at 85' for Mike Magee who was carrying a yellow card. The sequence starts at 6:37. V. Pineda is #27.

He only played 14 minutes more for the Fire.

  5. Also correct.

    Come now.

Pineda was "on" the Fire from 2010-2014.

That was during the time of the "Editorial."
The Fire Org. did a damn goos job at alienating the fan base!

Oh, wait, that does not help.

    Here's what I have for a lineup.

    Chicago Fire lineup 1182020.png

I'm not comfortable with our depth. We need a right back so Kap can move in, we need either a starting LW or another backup striker, and we should get another central midfielder or two. I haven't been paying attention to much of the rumors outside of Beric, but I hope that's what we're looking for.

    -------------Beric
    Ivanov---------Frankowski
    ----Djordje--Medran
    -----------Gimenez
    Bornstein-Calvo-Kappelhof-Sekulic
    -------------Kronholm

Leave a DP spot open. See in the summer what this team badly needs, or perhaps upgrade Djordje if we don't have an overwhelming need and let him go to Europe (if he can even get that offer). Obviously need to upgrade bench beyond Sapong, Edwards, and Bronico.

Let's be clear here: that's at least about 6 players short, including 3-4 of what will need to be among the most talented and most highly paid ones.

Honestly, that was still a problem last year with a full roster.
Seems like we have a big CAM-sized hole. Is Feilhaber any good anymore? He's out of contract and could use a serviceable stopgap at the position.

    I'm assuming you're implying Misic isn't happening?

I think Misic is going somewhere else but I'm not sure.

In a 4-3-3 you run a double 8 so we technically have two 8s here, but we could probably improve on one of them. I'm a big midfield nerd. If it's up to me, 2 of the 3 DP slots go to the midfield.

    Presumably not.

Looks to have a decent delivery on his cross though.

The digital team has been deafeningly silent, but they’ve worked a gem there.

Beric is going to be a quality signing. I’m expecting 15+ goals with quality hold up play. Good 1st move.

Very good, though I'm not sure where a "handshake" fits into the video.
