Everything that happened last night didn't happen. Except for the logo, that did happen. Although my guy is saying that that's not the real final design, even though most of the credible non-journalist insiders are saying it's real. Could be a controlled leak to lower expectations and make almost anything better than that garbage.
Lowering expectations and hoping for the best has served me well the last decade. It's only in the last year it's been paying off.
The rebrand was never going to happen today or yesterday. It's planned for this upcoming Wednesday/Thursday. And yes, that very much is the real thing which is scary. Logical solution is: the Fire never acknowledge this logo and instead use the next year to come up with something better(since keeping the current one doesn't seem to be an option for whatever reason).
And hey..if they want a rebrand or new logo why not create a bunch of press by having the supporters and greater city submit ideas and vote on them even if they already have it rigged to pick their original choice. Seems like a great publicity stunt and the dude who did the cross axes...AWESOME! I got excited thinking that was the REAL rebrand. If only...
Players not protected in expansion draft Diego Campos Stefan Cleveland Elliot Collier Marcelo Nicolas Gaitan Cristian Martinez Amando Moreno Nemanja Nikolic David Ousted Richard Sanchez Bastian Schweinsteiger Gaitan left unprotected leads me to believe he will not return ( he was supposedly Paunos buddy as well) Katai protected leads me to believe the incoming TD/GM understands and knows his value and talent and would like to at least try and retain him.
Hopefully the new manager can reignite Katai's level of give a f-ck which was sometimes lacking last season. Still, of the Niko, Gaitan, Katai trio Katai is the guy I would pick if I was forced to choose only one. When he's on his game the Fire look capable of beating anyone.
I don't think leaving Gaitan unprotected means he is not returning. I think it is a calculated risk. I suspect Nashville would be put off by his salary. Miami would be put off as he is not a "big" name for $2,000,000 a year. I see Campos being a decent pick up for an expansion team. Young, versatile, cheap. Maybe a team might grab Sanchez. I don't see any of the others having much value. I definitely hope you are correct about Katai. This.
I really hate giving up Campos, but this club already decided he is a RB, which he is terrible at. Now if they played him at his more natural position, he's a decent and cheap choice on the bench and should be making the 18 every week. Disappointing.
He is a fine squad player, but nothing more. Easily replaced, but worth keeping. His versatility is why Nashville or Miami might spend a pick on him.
At a minimum salary, he more than serves his role. We're going to have some more overpaid, more useless players filling up the 17th and 18th roster spot. I would have left Kronholm unprotected instead.
I agree on Campos. I would have protected him. I do not agree on Kronholm, unless a replacement has been signed.
Frankowski played the full 90 for Poland today as they won the group. He did get Lewandowski pretty livid with his passes, hope he doesn't get too down about that.
