Officially yes, though whether they were all of actual DP quality is up for debate. In 2015 there were Matías Pérez García, Innocent Emeghara and Chris Wondolowski. Then upon Simon Dawkins' return in 2016, Wondo's contract was restructured so he lost his DP status so that Dawkins could be signed on as a DP. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I berated Magnus all season and I will continue to. He is trash. Only thing he proved is he isn't a number 10. If we paid for a legit DP #10 and had him where Magnus was, we would have made the playoffs comfortably.
Not really. Number 10 is the most important offensive position in our system, and Magnus was terrible. Replace Magnus with someone like Rusnak from RSL and we are making music.
Is Baca a No 10.? I remember him more as a No.8 who kept the ball moving but not exactly as a Valerie kind of offensive difference maker.
We'll be back in an hour with some news.Ok cool, see you soon. pic.twitter.com/NOTfl0LjgT— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) October 29, 2019
Certainly not Wondo's boots. Still, MPG was a decent player, Emeghara started out pretty good but was never the same after an early injury, and while 2012 Dawkins was pretty good, 2016 Dawkins didn't really live up to that. And none of them were truly of the DP status that today's MLS big boys have been signing. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
When they paid Dawkins $50k in 2011-2012, he was an exceptional player. When he was making $800k as DP, he was crap.
You are correct, sir: https://www.sjearthquakes.com/post/...8stF1kzNNBljvTVkmHEj2zFBMIRyA3eul_HnjQ0M0gSv4
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...n-gilbert-fuentes-eric-calvillo-new-contracts The San Jose Earthquakes have signed two young members of the roster, midfielders Gilbert Fuentes and Eric Calvillo, to new multi-year contracts, the club announced on Thursday..............
Not so sure. I looked at Magnus closely and he did a complete 180 from 2018. Now you can argue he was crap then but then so was the entire team. Either way, he held his own but I can’t tell at this point if he will be back or if he is in Almeyda’s plans for the entire season. As far as getting DP superstars, looking at the rest of the league, they help to a point but not sure how much they actually help you win a trophy. I don’t think either TFC or Seattle has any big name foreign players like Ibra, Vela or Rooney. The Quakes and Fisher want a blue collar team with the same type of no name players. We may get one big time DP but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Close THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT! ⚫️🔵BREAKING: We have signed 16-year-old defender Casey Walls as a @SutterHealth Homegrown Player! #VamosSJ https://t.co/3EoFHTUPFx— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) November 5, 2019
Now that the 2019 season is over and Seattle won it all, what can the Quakes do in 2020 exactly to do what they did this year?
they are right on track to do what they did this year. stay the course, keep the same players, don’t add anyone, and don’t give anyone any reason to think otherwise. brilliant. unless you’re completely sick of this shit and once, just once, you want to see San Jose snap out of their post season slumber and build a winner.
Most winning teams change out 3-4 good players each year. Bottom line once again is we need a GK, a Center back , a midfield playmaker and a center forward.
