Not even a TAM deal so that likely means his salary was cut in half, but to make up for it he’s secured a job for years to come.

And now Jesse has to do what he’s always known he was gonna have to do - find someone else who can score 10+ goals a season and provide leadership to the team. It’s going to be really hard to do that without spending big.

Do they swing big this winter or defer another year?

As I've said before, I would increase the budget for bribes.

Now it is time to sign Espinoza to a deal.

Theyll wait another year, Wondo buys them the excuse to wait. But absolutely, no BS, we are going to need to open the checkbook for a baller for the 2021 season for the front. And yes, that might mean signing a risky player, it always does.

It makes me wonder how much they will pay Wondo as a non playing coach?

Anybody willing to give me odds that we go into the 2020 with empty DP slot(s)?

You mean Vako will be gone or back to Europe?

Even if Vako stays, what are the chances we sign two more DP contracts?

I believe they are trying to sign Espinoza and he could be a DP (I have mixed feelings about it - he is our best chance creator, but he doesn’t score goals which is a problem).

I find it hard to believe they would sign a third DP though.

But, they could just make Rios a DP by not spending TAM on him.

Espinoza could score more if his role was different. He seemed to be more of a winger or a setup man for Wondo and Danny Hoesen.

Speaking of Hoesen, I have a feeling he may not be back.

Didn't we sign him to a new contract before the season started?

We did, if we really want to get him off the books (which I don't) then we expose him in the draft.

Espinoza had more shots and shots on goal this year than any other player on the team except Vako. He only got 2 goals.

I still think Espinoza is the best player on the team and we have to keep him, but when I think about how much money we might have to pay to get him I suddenly remember this guy can’t score goals.

I’m sure Jesse will bring that up as he negotiates with his club over the fee.

Espinoza is the best player and Magnus was the most improved. He was berated by all of us on the boards all last season and this past preseason but he proved everyone wrong.

Considering he was Stahre's player, he did very well.

He hit several goalposts, as I recall. It's not like Espinoza is the second-coming of Ramiro.

I do hope Espinoza improves his aim for next year because coming close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Sorry the Ramiro reference flew over my head - he use to play for the quakes right?

Ramiro Corrales was infamous for shots way over the net, as if he was attempting an American football field goal. And yes he played for the Quakes. Longest lasting original ‘96er in MLS.

Having 3 DPs is not the typical in MLS, have we every had three DPs at once?

To me this is not so much a question of DP or not but rather "change maker". Espinoza will be DP paid but is he a change maker? Vako is a DP but is he a change maker? We might have two DPs on paper and a bunch of TAM players but we really need some change makers.

Anytime a current Quake or opposing team player shots high over the goal, I yell "Ramiro". Good fun...

We still invoke Ramiro's name for those football-field-goalworthy shots
