Does that mean the USA, Canada, and Australia groups must draw a UEFA team from Pot 2? Or would they allow those groups to wait until Pot 3 to draw a UEFA team (Italy or Scotland)? If it's the former then that means those three teams cannot draw Japan or Brazil in their groups.

I woke up screaming into the night about how FIFA will actually accomplish this. I think I understand the concept of draws and ping pong balls. From the posts above, we are expecting the 9 EURO teams to be dispersed by POT #1 - 3, POT #2 - 4, POT #3 - 2.
I expect FIFA to draw the first two "higher seeded" POTS first and let the chips/balls fall where they may and then use POT #3 to remedy all sins???
It seems like FIFA would be praying for Scenario #1 (E-Euro, O-Other) below to get maximum dispersal of Europes "top" teams into every group.
    scen1.png
If this scenario happens, does FIFA say we will first draw for Group 3 from Pot #3 and we will remove Italy and Scotland's balls from Pot #3. Get a Country for Group "C", replace Italy and Scotland's into the hopper, then proceed with POT #3's draw?

    - - OR - -

If they truly draw POTS #1 & #2 randomly, they could have Scenario 2 with the minimum dispersal of Europes "top" teams:
    Scen2.png
At which point would they affectively assign Italy and Scotland from POT #3 to Group "E" and "F"??????
The only thing I really know is how to get to all the Matches.....beyond that I am clueless.

<<EDIT>> Dundalk and I have the same basic procedural question at the same time:D:D He snuck his question in while I was rambling on and on.

    It would be the latter.

For jackdoggy: from previous draws, when a team is drawn for a group where it cannot be placed (already a team from the same confederation or already two UEFA teams), it rolls over to the next available group. And then they draw for that group where the team could not be placed again. (This happens fairly frequently. As an example of one of the times when this happened in the 2015 WWC draw...Costa Rica was first drawn for the USA's Group D, but obviously could not be in the same group as the US. Costa Rica went into Group E, and then Nigeria was drawn for Group D.)

Anybody want to list their predictions for who we end up drawing?
I'm thinking we get Scotland, South Africa, and China but if we get Nigeria and Sweden in our group again I'm gonna start thinking there's something fishy.

1.China and Scotland are in the same pot.

    2. Several times the way the pots worked out it was almost certain we'd get Sweden and Nigeria, almost impossible not to.

Not so much this time-- but the perversity of the universe tends toward the maximum...

Every group must have at least one UEFA team. So if one of the USA, Canada, Australia groups does not draw a UEFA team from pot 2 then they must be assigned to one from pot 3? But if Italy and Scotland have already been drawn and placed then they would have to mandate that they redraw from Pot 2 to have the required UEFA team?

My official prediction for USA's group McSkillz: Netherlands, China, Nigeria.

I don't like that. I hope it doesn't happen. Hopefully by predicting this I'm sending that scenario some bad mojo.

I don't want the USA to have the hardest or easiest group. I do want them to be tested. I don't want them to be in a group like Germany had in 2015. We saw how well that served them later. At the same, on the chance they start slow and struggle to immediately find their rhythm I don't want them to be in a "group of death" either. So they need to be challenged but I would prefer them to qualify out of their group as the top seed. I also want to avoid teams that tend to foul a lot or play a bit recklessly.

I think if it is down to the same number of UEFA teams undrawn and groups without one, they assign them rather than go back and redraw an earlier pot? That is, if, say, USA and Canada are both lacking one going into pot 3 draws, I think they draw till the US draws one, assign the other to Canada, then draw the remainder. Seems to me that has come up before...

By my handy dandy DISH programing guide, "Coverage" of the draw tomorrow morning on FS2 will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET, 8:30 a.m.PT.
Which BTW is 54,900 seconds from now.

I think it would be assigned, but its really still just normal procedures. If both USA and Canada were lacking a UEFA opponent, that means you have multiple groups already with 2 UEFA teams. If those groups drew Italy, Italy couldn't be placed in that group and would roll over to a group where it can be placed.

For example, if the groups looked like this (all UEFA seeds drawing UEFA teams from Pot 2 so that a couple of groups are without any UEFA team by Pot 3), then you also have multiple groups that cannot draw another UEFA team from Pot 3:
    Group A: France, UEFA
    Group B: Germany, UEFA
    Group C: England, UEFA
    Group D: USA, Japan,
    Group E: Canada, Brazil,
    Group F: Australia, UEFA
If then a UEFA team (Italy, Scotland) were drawn for groups 1-3, it cannot be placed in that group since they already have 2 UEFA teams. It would roll to the next available group (with USA or Canada). The only problem would be if Australia and its one UEFA team were in the Group D spot. Technically Italy or Scotland could be placed in that group since they wouldn't yet have a maximum of two. In that case, I think Italy or Scotland would continue to roll to the next group due to the restriction of "at least one UEFA country." Or you can look at it as being assigned to the next group.

Thanks lil, the location (above) of Group D match on the 19th has conflicting information from Wiki and the FIFA website. Paris vs. Nice. My earlier schedule (Wiki and website) has 2 matches in Nice for the Group D #1 Team which is not consistent with the other groups' schedules(playing 3 Group matches in 3 different cities). ????????????? I not sure which one is right, helpfully if we draw into it, FOX will clear it up.

You're right; that's a good catch. Jen Cooper made a mistake! The team seeded in Group D will return to Nice for the 3rd group game.

I'm sure the buzz in France right now is all about the WWC draw/men's championship synergy and nothing else.

Wow this draw is the most elaborate I've seen. It's almost like an entire presentation and introduction into the 2019 WWC.
