Something to note on suspensions: In the VAR era, the DisCo not only has to unanimously decide that a red card should have been shown but must ALSO unanimously decide that the incident deserves an additional suspension on top of the standard one game for all red cards. I would assume that's why neither Nani nor Ziegler were suspended. Also note that if the video review system is not working or the protocols were not followed, all of the above goes out the window, and the DisCo reverts to their pre-VAR guidelines.
So in other words a foul that literally everyone other than the VAR ref agrees was a red card means that Nani gets off scot free to pick up a goal and an assist in the game after he should have been sent off and a goal in the game he should have been suspended for. Great system MLS...
