I finally have my computer back and have done the standings after last weekend's games (Week 13). Blissett and BlueCrimson had great weeks with 8 points each. But the bigger news is the season standings, where blissett and the cyborg (BSBraintrust) have joined Tapas&Futbol atop the standings! But beware, the evil robot is only 1 point behind. And here's perhaps some solace for those who have missed making predictions for some games. At the end of the season, I'll do a table of points scored (and standings) per game predicted.
Thank you very much for the update! I'll enjoy my stay at the top because I've got the feeling it will be for quite a short time: by now, I am too much in love with odd predictions and I've made some for this week-end also, but they just can't go my way all of the time. I guess two consecutive winning weeks are enough for me. Great idea!
I've been off the grid since Monday - camping in the Adirondacks, so I only have one game to predict: CHI 1-2 NC Can't wait to watch this one!
59Amerinorsk and SiberianThunderT came in on top for the week with 6 points each, but the big news is that blissett now stands alone at #1 in the overall standings:
Reminder: there are two Wednesday games this coming week. In response to a question about whether competitors take home field advantage into consideration, here are a couple of current tables based on the last full season's worth of regular season games (about half at the end of last year and half so far this year): Home field advantage as indicated in the first table actually is pretty high relative to what it's been based on earlier data. I'm guessing that the first table is the high end of whatever the long term range is for HFA.
Wow, I am humbled! I guess it's the first time I lead alone (apart maybe from the very first weeks of some season) in these last three years of NWSL predictions! And, after my resounding 0 points from the first match of this week-end, I wouldn't have thought I could have posted a solid performance anyway. Hadn't Campbell saved a PK, I could have done even better (but basically all of these small-margin events end balancing out: after all, last week I nailed an upset game whose winner goal was at 90'+2' ). Although I feel empowered, I am not sure for how long i can hold this position. The important thing, though, is that I have widened my advantage over the robot!
Thanks for the reminder: I could have easy missed that. Since Sky Blue upsets are my lucky charm, I'll go for it once again! SB 2 WAS 1 POR 2 HOU 0
As the former leader the only thing I can tell you is: Congrats blissett, well done. And: "Respice post te. Hominem te esse memento."
I like how this quote takes a completely different meaning now that we are battling against a robot! Very well played!
