I have a core group of 4 that I buy tickets for and another group of 3 that we tailgate with along with assorted guests. There are also several folks around me with whom I'm friendly. I would like to get an email exchange going and try to keep us all together in the new place. It would make ticket exchanges easier and make the new hold a little bit of that old magic. Stop by and say hello tomorrow. I'm in sec 107, row 13, seat 1.
Not season tickets, but I have the best memory of my then-six-year-old daughter getting to take a PK at a halftime in a pink dress, and winning a pair of tickets to another game.
I've said this before: I don't believe Columbus will sell out the entire west side upper deck in boxes and premium club seats. The stadium design will probably push us out a ways, but not all the way out.
The wife and I (and our group of friends) have decided that 2021 will be our last season in the Supporters Section and after that we'll move to the grown up seats. But, given all of the hand-wringing going on here about ticket prices, we may be doomed to the kid's table for all eternity.
Aging makes things so much more natural!!! Last USMNT game I about died having to stand for 45 minutes. I was so thankful for halftime!!!
I tried standing a lot for a good while. If you want to make friends with the people you are going to see around you 14 - 17 times a year or so, some concessions had to be made. You might even meet good people.
Agreed, but sometimes it's nice to sit down and leisurely enjoy a beer while watching the match. Anecdotal story: I don't remember ever sitting down during the run of play in the Nordecke. But last year in Atlanta, where we sat for the majority of the match, it was about the 60th minute when we both remarked how nice it was to sit back and relax during the game (yes - Columbus lost that match, and though that sucked we still really enjoyed ourselves and the experience). That was when we decided that, should the Crew be saved, we'd move out of the Nordecke in a couple years. Then after all of the Big News we decided, as a whole group, that we'd do one year in the New Nordecke and then figure out a new home. I'm not 100% sure it's going to happen like that, but myself and the other angry old man in our group are going to be lobbying hard when the time comes.
I've been thankful for seatbacks (I guess bleacherbacks is closer to the truth, but either way...). Spent a couple decades going to a stadium that didn't have them.....
I like to stand but not for the entire game . Honestly standing or sitting for a entire game is not ideal but I’d prefer to be able to sit as you can always get up and stand but if you sit and ppl are in front of you standing then you can’t see which sucks if your legs are tired etc ...
I'm really hoping they keep good on their word of putting some fold-up seating in at least the top of the Supporters' section in the new stadium. I still want to be there, and I want my daughter to continue to grow up there, but as much as I'm pro safe standing, I'm not sure my knees can go 90 min anymore. As it is, I sit through halftime, and will take a squat on the bench back for a few min every 20-30 or so. Growing old sucks, I don't recommend it. But @LaMacchia, if they put in the seating you can join us in Skydecke.
I think you're good here - The popular "safe standing" these days is the folding chair kind like they have at LAFC and KC. It's better for revenue because the area can still be used for seating for concerts and other, non-soccer events. And, yeah, depending on how it all shakes out with that I may be right beside you in the Skydecke.
Look for me in the Skydecke too in the future, forced standing, today especially, is making me feel antsy about my feet and knees in general.
My quote is "I hit 50, 50 hit back" if that gives you an idea... [I've paraphrased it from an old Lois McMaster-Bujold quote]
Well, I was playing in an 8 v 8 0-40 league at the time--not counting Corporate Challenge, which was "open".
