Josh Cohen - Gone. https://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news_...c3ZJjb5W3h2Qqa5HHDC9lfoVViFffwQgm2gCwWVy58T2A I am utterly fvcking speechless right now.
OMG! I know little about most foreign leagues. I hope Israeli Premier is worth the transfer for him. Bummer. I guess we're about to find out why we kept Rafael Diaz even though he barely played in 2018.
BREAKING: Republic FC have acquired MLS goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth on loan from @MNUFC. Welcome, Bobby!➡️ https://t.co/2hVr2HLp01 pic.twitter.com/PqUinyiH6Y— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) August 6, 2019 Eleven year MLS veteran. Finished 2nd in the league in saves in 2017. Will join the team next week. Recent stats
Per90 GAA is 1.59 overall. Best GAA was the 2014 season with the Revs (1.25). Worst was 2018 with the Loons at 2.04. Given the differential quality of opposition, I would figure he's about 0.3 to 0.5 GAA better in USL than in MLS. Probably a net upgrade from Diaz' pretty consistent 2.00 (or so) figure thus far.
Big roster news today. First, Tyler Blackwood announced on his Instagram account that he is leaving the Bears... It’s with regret that I announce my departure from @sacrepublicfc. Since moving to this city I’ve received nothing but love from the fans and the community and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone I’ve crossed paths with during my stay. Whether it was on the field, in the city or during a school visit the Sacramento community have welcomed and embraced me and I’ll always be grateful for that. Thank you for making me feel at home far from home.
Second, we've signed last season's golden boot runner-up, with a club option for 2020... BREAKING: Republic FC have signed 2018 USL MVP Finalist and Golden Boot runner-up Thomas Enevoldsen for the remainder of the 2019 season. Welcome to Sacramento, Thomas! https://t.co/gokWfGsTY2 pic.twitter.com/GcwhfEitOn— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) August 12, 2019
Regarding Enevoldsen, it looks like Indy's signing of two South American strikers led to his transfer.
Tyler Blackwood is now leaving https://www.reddit.com/r/SacRepublicFC/comments/cpgrqf/tyler_blackwood_departing_from_srfc/
The optimist in me thinks SRFC is making a committment to a strong run into the playoffs......the pessimist in me thinks it's an admission that we don't have the horsepower to get it done. Considering this was Simon Elliot's team (i.e.he had a full year to pick the players) at the start of the season, it sure seems like we have replaced a lot people he originally judged as having "the right stuff."
The issue all season has never really been in the front line (though the lack of clinical finishing has not helped) - it is that SRFC has never had any sort of lock-down playmaker in the midfield line this season like a Rodrigo Lopez or a Jure Matjasic who could control the midfield for minutes at a time. The closest we have had this season has been Bijev, but he can't stay on the field due to repeated injury. Regrettably, this is not the sort of position you can just bring somebody in and plug in and expect success, either. Plain fact of the matter is that this team is too small, too slow, and too unskilled to be anything but a mid-table side this season. I don't think anybody at SRFC HQ thought that the expansion sides would play nearly as well as they have, particularly given some of them have players that SRFC (with some foresight) could have easily had on their roster instead.
...and now, Hord is gone. NEWS: Republic FC loan defender @Ehord26 to @hfdathletic for the remainder of the 2019 season. SRFC retains the right to recall Hord up until the roster freeze date. Good luck, Elliott!https://t.co/ftsYOJRqYD pic.twitter.com/0ZDVz5DgKC— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) August 17, 2019
Hartford is terrible. I hope he gets good minutes there. Good luck Elliott. I don't know how serious Gomez's knee injury is, but I suppose we could see Hord return if McCrary or Barahona get hurt.
Looks like we won't see Shannon Gomez on the field again until next year :-( From the link - Sacramento Republic FC defender Shannon Gomez underwent surgery on August 21 to repair a meniscus and torn ACL in his right knee. UC Davis Health team physician Cassandra A. Lee, M.D., performed the successful surgery on Wednesday.. https://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news_article/show/1043896
