Don't forget to bring two extra bottles of water for each person: one for during the match and one for after. And a cookie for yourself.
Beer/food at 4th St early and hang out in the lot after until the traffic clears. Maybe you should bring me that cookie[emoji23]
I quoted the original post that I was referring to in my subsequent posts, which you conveniently left out. That's what I've been replying to--from the start. However, I expect I could give you a list just as long of players who'd scored per your expectations in other leagues who flamed out when they got to MLS. Like Mattheus. We've signed some of those. For every Stern John, there's an Olman Vargas or Erick Scott.... In fact we've even had two proven NCAA goal scorers on the Crew who never scored much in MLS. St. Dunc, as I recall, is still the leading all time scorer for Fullerton and Maloney was a college striker with 27 goals for a Big 10 team. But, the point is that most of those players you noted could no longer cut it in that higher league they came from. It's rare that a young, proven player comes from Europe to MLS. A little less rare than it used to be, of course. Usually they go the other way.
from the article: "Wednesday’s game at Chicago will be the first time he will sit out this season because of injury."
I’m not so sure that he finally made it through 60% of a season necessarily disproves Bill’s point... EDIT: 39 appearances since 2015. With the rosters we’ve been dealing with, it’s clearly not because of his lack of talent.
I laughed out loud at this one. Does Crew still do an official fan of the year award? If so, then you get my vote. Thoma won it once upon a time. Why not you? Why not now?
With regards to the defense, I think our defense is not as good as our goal against suggests because we play with 2 DM that don't really do anything on offense. I think rating our defense should take into account that we have these extra 2 players who are far more defense oriented. If they were positioned or instructed or able to play both offense and defense as your mids should, we would probably not be as stingy on defense.
Trapp linked to Fiorentina. Club is now owned by NY Cosmos Governor Rocco Comisso. Word is he wants an American on the team. First choice was Weah. Next was Miazga but Chelsea wants $20M. Trapp is up next. We’ll see...
Trapp isnt that popular amongst non-Crew, USMNT fans so he might not be the best choice for an American face to help you push your club to American fans. With that said, Trapp has stagnated here...so it would probably be a good move for us and him too. Well probably demand like 6 million for him or something stupid though.
I'd be astounded if they sold him. I would be happy if they did, at nearly any price. I think we're hamstrung by him. We can't bench him and he's not the CDM I want to build this team around for the next 3 years. I wish I knew Bez's feelings on Trapp. Does he put any value on him for his intangibles as an off the field asset? If not, SELL! If the offer is over $2M all the better. Same goes for Zardes, but I think with the new contract we'd need $4M.
Trapp to Fiorentina? Surely you’re talking about German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, because absolutely no way in hell does Fiorentina buy Wil Trapp. It’s so ridiculous I don’t even know what else to say.
My tickets have been used for every game since the ownership change. Should be worth something considering the negativity permeating the fan base, right? [emoji106][emoji23]
Columbus Crew defensive midfielder Wil Trapp is wanted by Fiorentina. The club was recently bought by Italian-American businessman Rocco Commisso. He wants to sign an American with a European passport. Fiorentina also wants Matt Miazga. (la Repubblica) #Crew96 pic.twitter.com/035tVjEf6y— MLS Transfer Zone (@MLS_ZONE) July 17, 2019
Rocco Commisso sounds like a fake name a journalist would use in an article in place of a secret source.
I would love this. For us, for Trapp, for everyone. But remember, Commisso was just about bragging about how he bought the team practically sight unseen and that he didn't do any due diligence. Sometimes I think is business acumen is pretty low.
