Maybe it’s just my brain being tired, but I can’t work out what incentive Accam has to perform well this year. I mean, impressing Porter isn’t going to keep him in Columbus. He already knows where he’s playing next year—no need to impress to get “transferred”/traded. The only thing I can think of is if there are some performance bonuses or an out clause stating he could potentially play here next year. What am I missing?
More playing time, and I believe you (and someone else a bit upthread) answered your question with performance bonuses.
A true professional knows that loafing will devalue themselves. Physically and mentally if he checks out for a year and performs poorly in the Columbus office it'll carry into the Nashville office. Hopefully, he's driven and selfish. We need a little of that on this team.
How is it any different than a pre-contract? FIFA allows teams to sign players presently playing for another team to a contract up to 6 months in advance.
Something happened in his head. Maybe it was in Atlanta, when he couldn't get traction, ended upon the end of the bench, finally not even making the game day roster. He simply lost confidence in himself and couldn't get it back. Edit: Orlando
He’s a decent player, but once teams realized they had take him seriously and not give him room to operate, it was over.
Maybe he wasn’t good to begin with and had one good fluke season. He always showed flashes of something good but was frustrating to watch then had that one really good season and was off to Orlando. I lost all respect for the guy after he ran out on the team, found out the grass isn’t greener, then came back with his tail between his legs. Good riddance.
Yeah. He always seems psyched out and mentally defeated easily. I don't know if a different coach could give him his fire back, but no coach is going to go way out of their way to motivate him. Hes a pro and has to fix himself and unfortunately move by the wayside, in the meanwhile. I would love to see him find himself again though. Not with the us though. That project is done. Best of luck in Atlanta to him.
I don't blame him for wanting out when the team announced it was moving. I was glad to have him back when he returned. But his play lost something.
Actually, the opposite. He got engaged, and the relationship ended before the marriage. Not sure why it ended, but that has the potential to mess with a person's head.
In the strictest sense, couldn't the same have been asked of Zack Steffen once his deal to Manchester City was announced?
I wasnt aware of that either...though I suspect it wasnt exactly broad, public information either. That could and/or would f*ck up anyone's game. That's a bummer.
I would argue that going into the Premier League and fighting for a starting job is far different than going to another mL$ club for which there is not even a roster yet. And fighting to keep your starting spot with the national team.
Hmmm... We have walked into the fire and emerged with 3 dragons. We are ready to attack the rest of the season 🔥 #GameofCrew #GoT #Crew96— DrPeteEdwards (@DrPeteEdwards1) May 19, 2019
