https://www.massivereport.com/2018/...who-could-fit-well-with-columbus-crew-sc-2018 I will take Wallace we need a capable outside back I’m not a huge fan of Maloney starting if Afful was injured and I’m thinking Jimenez will not have GB around to save him a spot. His utility is nice but he needs a fresh start just about as much as we do
Guys who couldn't get minutes for teams that we were better than last season don't make much sense to me. Especially if they don't have green cards. I don't like anyone on the Massive Report list. Though of agree with @TRUJDUB that Wallace is the best of the five listed.
Hell yeah! We keep Zack till the summer! 📰 News: #CrewSC reaches historic 2019 Secondary Transfer Window agreement with @ManCity for goalkeeper @zackstef_23. // #mancity➡️ https://t.co/o3PvfHNQ93 pic.twitter.com/FGJwY5zYrE— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) December 11, 2018 "Terms of the agreement were not disclosed but the transfer fee is the largest in Club history and most ever received by an MLS club for a goalkeeper in the League’s 23-year history. "
Good for the Crew (short term at least), bad for Steffen's development. It's gonna be weird to see this team be forced to devote resources to two starting goalkeepers in 2019.
I'm wondering if this is work permit related. Having BMF here makes it easier for Gold Cup makes it easier for permit.
Congrats to Zack. But it seems kind of odd to me. Doesn’t Man S#!tty kind of need a keeper now? Perhaps @Kyle Crew can update me/us on the latest with their keeper situation.
The unjustifiably banned Columbus Crew Big Soccer Board Legend Placid Casual made the same point to me via text just moments ago.
Who is BMF? Do we know if this is a January transfer with a loan back? Or a July transfer? If the latter, we could loan him out in January and make even more $. I agree there is not much point in keeping him for 3 months when we need a new starter anyway.
I also wonder whether and if the (to say the least) uncertainty surrounding Brexit has anything to do with this. Probably not. In any case, I assume that an American under contract to a British club, and who doesn't have citizenship in any EU country, would (even pre-Brexit) need to qualify for a work permit in any country to which they might be loaned out. And, like this article notes, the UK already has more strict work permit qualifications than many other European nations. But Brexit, if it goes badly (and it's not exactly going smoothly at the present) could really screw with current player rosters in the UK. This all will happen by March 2019. So Man City might see a delay to the summer window as getting them to a point where there's more clarity surrounding this matter.
I apologize if it's out there and I missed it, but can someone please tell me what the Steffen transfer fee is? I find it annoying the Crew will note this is "historic" and the largest fee ever for an MLS keeper, but once again fail to actually publish a number. It's like telling someone you have a girlfriend, but when they ask about meeting her you say she goes to school in Canada and their schedules are different so they just have to trust you.
Thank you. I saw the rumored range before, but I wasn't sure if anything official had been announced.
Made this same point in the other thread. Absolutely. It also could mean they plan to keep him rather than loan him out, since UK work permit would not factor there. Or I guess the loan destination could be inside the UK if it is a loan.
If anyone was on the fence on whether to love/hate Martinez, the red sh!te from up north claimed him in the waiver draft. BOOOO!!!
Meram can/should play up top. 2nd striker. Gets him close to goal and his lazy D & proclivity for TOs do not hurt as much. Late game 442 switch option.
Apparently a deal is done. No official word yet though... REPORT: @ColumbusCrewSC have signed 23-year-old Brazilian forward #Robinho in a deal worth $250,000. The selling team is Brazilian First Division club Ceará. #SaveTheCrew pic.twitter.com/38JSDOY4XT— Christian Pereira ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (@CrewSoccer96) December 16, 2018
I'm curious how this got approved. Presumably he was scouted and on the radar for Berhalter when he left. Did Onstad just decide that he's not too expensive, we should add him?
