Designated Players: 1 of 3 Zardes --------------------------- 8. International Roster Spots: 7 of 8 Santos, Sosa, Diaz, Room, Mokhtar ,Valenzuela & Cadden ------------ (We need to buy intl spots and Sosa likely to go on loan or possibly sold.)
Pipa slows down the attack I’d rather he was gone. He wants the veteran minimum to be a super sub then I would consider it which would mean instantly loan Sosa out If Santos was on exact same salary he could be just under DP if not pay him same and buy him down or give him a pay cut. Absolutely do not give him more money. Buy 2 DP CM/Cams for the 10&8 Get Nagbe for a back up for cheap , send Guzman and Rico packing Sign or Buy another RB, CB, GK and a winger Trade all draft picks for a top 3 pick or trade all my picks because the draft sucks generally Im trying to be realistic , my dream would be fire Porter , get rid of Jimenez , sell trap and Zardes , start a Crew 2 for the young Guys buy a bunch of intl spots and much better players
I could totally see this being our starting 11 for the home opener. Anybody can criticize Nagbe to hell and back if they want and that's fine but my gut tells me he comes here at some point and the timing is good now. I cant see Porters brain not loving the idea of a Akron duo in midfield and the FO loving the idea of another former/fringe USMNT player with big MLS experience and success who's from Ohio and more specifically Cleveland, to boot. I'd absolutely prefer an even more ambitious signing, but could live with this as well.
I get what you are saying on Pipa, and it is true, but I also like having a possession based option. As for the rest.....Porter is not getting fired anytime soon. And Nagbe is not a backup.
I like Nagbe and he is better than what we have at the 8 but he doesn’t score goals I’m not sure he defends well enough to be the 6 like Artur but maybe he is hard to say because he plays in a 433 not a 4231 . Maybe if we got him Porter goes to a 433. But everything depends on the price / value. I just want a 8 who occasionally scores who can strike a nice outside the box shot unlike anyone we currently have and who can maybe be a back up 10
Trapp is the 6. Atrur is the 8. Nagbe would be the 8 while Trapp sits deep. Agree that that CM is a bit soft.
Yes but i think Artur is a 6 playing 8. Trapp i would like him to go to Europe . Obviously he is a much better passer than Artur but not the same kind of defensive skills. Trapp is very smart player with average athletic skills.
Or maybe hes a 7 playing 14. I've always felt he could really be two fours which would make him an 8 but truthfully Porter uses him more like 9.3. Sober the ******** up.
Honestly, his comment was perfectly sober & sane. Yours seems like you got your hands on your Crew/ATL bet winnings & splurged for some bourbon. It is a soccer board FFS. If discussions about what position best suits a player ticks you off, perhaps you should spend more time elsewhere.
I personally thought it was funny. Maybe it’s less funny when directed at you? Bill sort of describes what goes on in my head when people start taking about positions as numbers. I always end up asking who number two works for and laughing. Then I move on.
This past game, Dwight and Neal mentioned St Louis coming into the league. Dwight then threw out “home of Bill McDermott”. If you can’t handle the 8 shirt vs the 6 shirt, you better hope you never run across Bill McDermott.
Expansion Draft details for Inter Miami, Nashville SC set as they enter in 2020 Highlights: - Draft date is November 19 - Teams can now protect 12 players, up from 11 last year - D.C. United, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, FC Dallas, the Houston Dynamo and the New York Red Bulls will be exempt - A complete list of Expansion Draft-eligible players will be released Nov. 16
Glad we can protect 12. You can bet we'll lose someone, though. I'l be curious to see the full rules, and really curious to see if Cadden is an eligible player in the draft. I would think/hope not, since he can't even join the club until sometime in 2020. First shot: Argudo Artur Diaz Mensah Mokhtar Room Santos Trapp Valenzuela Zardes R. Williams One of Abubakar, Maloney, Crognale or Jimenez (who's 30)? Or Cadden, if eligible. I think JJ Williams, Okpoku and Keita may not be eligible for the draft due to Homegrown, GA and supplemental roster status. We sorta assume that Crognale may be graduating from GA this season, so he may be draft eligible.
Zardes Diaz Santos Trapp Artur Valenzuela Mensah Lalas Afful Room Cadden Argudo ? One of the back up strikers prob R Williams , If you do not need to protect Cadden
I hope someone takes Guzman, but I’m not big on Mokhtar so i hope we don not re-sign Guzmán so someone can take Mokhtar. They would be doing us a favor
It's way past time that they eliminate the so-called Superdraft. It serves very little purpose. The thing is mostly full of guys you can get the equal of on the open market. Give the new teams a other 500k in GAM and let them find their own guys.
So it should be they can sign for whoever they want ? I think the Crew have benefited from a actual draft https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/th...d-by-each-mls-team/1visj6li137he1j15ogtobc542
Can we only lose one player to the expansion draft, or is it one player per expansion team (thus, two)?
Maximum player loss: Once one player has been claimed from a club’s unprotected roster, that club is eliminated from the Expansion Draft and may not lose any further players. Source
Just realized the full rules are already on the MLS website. No mention that I can find of a signed-but-not-yet-on-the-roster players.
It's BS that those teams can't lose a player. Last year's expansion draft for FCC was supposedly the 2nd half of a draft with LAFC being the first half. We lost a player, Jukka, to LAFC and so were exempt then. Everyone should now be fair game for this round. Also if I were giving MLS a $150 mil expansion fee, I'd expect more than 5 journeymen from existing teams. Since new teams generally don't come with full fledged academies turning out MLS quality homegrown players year 1, they should get extra discovery and international slots for 2-3 years, and be able to buy more allocation money that doesn't expire.
