For this year's discussion about personnel, prospective player moves, game lineups and formations, etc.

Side note: Miggy Almiron starts for Newcastle today (2/23).

Although my guide says Wolves vs. Bourneouth, NBCSN is actually showing Miggy's match.

Oh my, Almiron almost opened his EPL account but the post denied him in the end. Check the highlights for that one, his pace sent him through and a wonderful chip beat the goal keep.

Now Miggy draws a red card on a very harsh tackle from the Huddersfield captain. Welcome to the EPL. Luckily Miggy is fine and his team is a man up.

Wow, if anyone had any doubts about whether Miggy could cut it in the EPL his first 30 minutes have certainly put that baby to bed. He's had 3 quality scoring attempts and set up a couple of others for his Magpie teammates.

Gunner: I hope it isn't inappropriate to use this thread to "think out loud" as I watch the match. If so I apologize. I was kind of hoping someone else might be watching too.

A nice round of applause from the crowd when Miggy was taken off. He did not disappoint.

Almiron looked more than decent again yesterday.

Nagbe was gassed by the end of the game on Thursday. I'll be surprised to see him start tomorrow.

Curious to what you guys think about our depth? At first, under Tata, it seemed like he just didn’t want to rotate but even under FdB there isn’t a whole lot of rotation going on.

I maintain I would have rather seen complete 'B' teams for the DC and Cincy games. I'd be curious if the decision not to rotate game from the front office or FdB. The squad has looked gassed by the 70th minute every game. I'm scared it's going to happen on Sunday, with the team giving up a late goal again, and they won't get their legs back until the week after.

I didn't think they looked gassed last Sunday. They just got complacent in the back, with Gressel napping and not marking. You can be complacent when dominating 2-0, but not with only a one goal lead.

I really hope the FO isn't making game day personal decisions. If that is the case why bring in a guy like FdB that obviously has long term plan?

Man, we have got to get our shit together. I hope this break helped us hit the reset button because we are spiraling out of control fast. Right now, most of the pundits have us in the bottom half of the table and no longer the darling of the league.

Eales, Bocanegra, and Blank cannot and should not be happy with FdB right now.

Anyone else wish Newcastle hadn't opened up the checkbook?

I'm not sure if Miggy's skill-set would have worked in FdB's system at all. If I could choose on keeping someone we lost, I'd choose Tata.

Tata had struggles too, especially when Miggy was out. I think we all knew Miggy was special, but I don't think we'd realize how much he really meant to this team. He certainly has put a spark into the Newcastle side.

Choosing only one, I'd take Tata myself. I keep hoping he'll have a fallout or something with the FMF and ask to return. I know that ain't gonna happen.

I almost wish we didn't have a week off. We need to get the taste of that loss out of our mouths, or find out that this is maybe who we are with the personnel we have right now. Plus, I'm ready for a game...

I kind of feel like the team needs all of the practice time they can get to finally start to figure out FdB's system.

This ^^^^^, and the fact that a lot players are still not joining on field training (Pity, Bello, Kratz, and Escobar) perhaps this short break will allow everyone to get healthy?

No LPG? His play has been sloppy, but do we sit him? I think he starts... and Parkhursts has to sit.

Isn't Escobar hurt? I bet we go back to 3 at the back since we have no left or right backs at the moment. Shea and Gressel as wingbacks. Hopefully Barco nestles in behind Pity and Josef and in front of Nagbe and Remedi instead of play out wide.
