Not if that is going to count as two off season signings for Mr. Burns.

Kudos for closing out this administrative action but 0 credit (IMHO) for any off season heavy lifting.

Less than a week into the off-season has to be a record. These things usually happen after Christmas.

    This is good news.

In other news, this is net neutral news: as retaining these two guys is one of the most very basic things needed to do just to continue to maintain a hold on the current level of overachievement.

Unfortunately, this is is in no way a step forward. But it still is "good".

Watched the CONCACAF League (semi-finals and finals) and thought a couple of those players would be upgrades for the Revs:

Jimmy Marin (Herediano, 21) - pacey player who can dribble and play either wing. He was all over the field in the final, so I have no doubt he could press, and he was active scoring twice in the final. He got his first caps for the Costa Rican national team in September, I think he could be a difference maker in MLS.

(Román) Rubilio Casillo (Motagua, 26) - 6 ft tall forward. May not be a perfect fit pressing, but puts every chance he gets on goal with pace. He has scored 108 professional goals in his career, and won the golden boot of the tournament. Hes been a regular for Honduras since 2014 with 4 goals in 21 caps. Probably an upgrade from current strikers, but maybe not an MLS all star.

At least a handful of other players would be good signings just to improve the squad, but those 2 stood out as players who could move the needle some

@tsb11 Good stuff. The winger sounds intriguing but they're always hit or miss. For every Penilla, there's a hundred Mauricio Castros who work hard but don't give you a ton of production. The revs need a Penilla caliber winger on the opposite side, a pure finisher up top and a veteran amid who can pick out an incisive pass and marshall the troops. Basically, we need a Higuain against DC United type guy. I want the revs to put the fear of God in backpedaling MLS defenders who have to respect our prolific offense. I'm fully convinced with a more efficient attack in the final third, it will take pressure off the back line and yield more positive results. They can allow their 1 goal a game but outscore opponents and walk away with the 3 points.

On Casillo, I'd treat cautiously. We've been duped by a much more prolific Honduran goalscorers before.

@tsb11 ... Thank you. You've now done more scouting than Burns.

I should have started this thread with a poll question. How many open roster spots will we have when we start the 2019 season?

Second question, how many Revs fans will defend those open roster spots?

If they keep 1 open roster spot then I think thats fine. Any more than that is just being lazy. Especially if loaned players in hartford dont count toward the 30-man total

The writing is on the wall for Dielna (900k) and Somi(424k) as to being gone. Zahibo being a backup at 544k is not a good ROI. Agudelo's contract is up on Dec and I doubt the Revs will pay him more than his current 600k and I doubt he will take a pay cut. Diego may be gone as well. I have a feeling the players in bold will not be on the team come January. This is about 3.4 million in Salary. Lets hope that Burns spends this wisely and before the start of the season. In a perfect world we will hear about signings in Dec/January not Feb/March. Will this be the year they actually sign a DP....I mean a real DP, not the Technically speaking DP

Well, they finished season with 4 empty roster spots (including Tierney's IR exemption), and spent the season with between 4-6 empty slots.

I can't remember the last time they have had only one empty roster slot....

I want to say that 2012 and 2013 (the first two years of the Heaps era) the Revs had a full roster or very close. They haven't approached a filled roster since then, however.

    Revs announce year-end roster moves.
Good to see that we spent almost a year to get Machado here. Burns ... well done.

I assume that there’s no contract option with him, and we’ll have to be rid of him some other way.

He's got a guaranteed contract for 2019, so that's why he's listed that way.
