I didn’t think they were terrible... but in predictable Union fashion: The strikers can’t strike The wing backs are a concern
Looks like Curtin was working on playing lineups that will never all see the field at the same time. At various times the back line was: Wagner, Collin, McKenzie and Gaddis 30 Wagner, Collin, Elliot, Gaddis 30min Real, Trusty, Elliot, Gaddis 30min Midfield of Harris, Ale, Aaronson and Fabian followed by Jones, Fontana, Aaronson and Ilsinho Sapong and Fafa followed by Accam and Prez Shebelko (or however you spell it) No chemistry at all though Montreal not impressive either. Fontana had a few chances but off target and Accam blew the equalizer in stoppage time. Montreal's goal was a pretty flick on at the near post from a low angle with Collin trailing the attacker by a half step. There was a vintage Collin near fatal injury that looked mid season form. He DID appear to be fouled at least.

Anyone else sort of concerned we haven’t seen Santos in the stream games yet? Coach said we'd attack, and that's a lineup for a showdown. @DCUnited the oppo tonight as we prep for March 2 at home. Apparently has a slight knee injury: Jim Curtin told us Santos and Burke would start together. Wellllll, Santos is being held out as a precaution with knee soreness so it's Sapong and Burke up top.— Joe Tansey (@JTansey90) February 21, 2019
2-1 to the good guys. Not a bad performance. You could see what they will be trying to do in terms of the press and forcing transition opportunities.
The Union looked good last night, particularly in the first half. DC's goal was mostly against the run of play. Hamid made two good saves. I thought that Wagner was much better although he made a major blunder at one point that almost led to a goal. The entire attack went down the left side. Gaddis wasn't offering much on the right side. Every time Wagner got the ball, he attacked. Some of his crosses were excellent, some were awful. Whenever Gaddis got the ball he looked to pass first. Ilsinho and Fabian were occupying the same space too much. Same with Burke and CJ getting too close to each other. The Union had far more possession than they should have had given that formation but they had possession guys on the field. Acosta and Rooney burned the defense on the goal. It was a beautiful pass and finish. The Union looked much better than they did in Saturday's game. You could see how this formation might work.

With a face like that and his singing voice you know he scored. Just not sure about this preseason. As for Marco Fabian, he's on thomas19064's list
