The ninth circle was divided in to four different levels of treachery . So the 13th is for Precourt and the hipster 6.
Classic smack. The other one in that category I saw in Boston's North Station a number of years ago: It had a Flyers player on it with the words "You wouldn't want your sister to date one". Loved it--and I'm a Flyers fan....
I mean, as much as it was offensive on so many levels, l loved the Two Girls One Cup '09 banner those TFC asshats brought down. Jack would have cried tears of joy having seen it, then launched himself into that red sea to confront the artists (and probably ended up under police supervision in the ER).
So, Friedel gets canned. Time passes, and the GM gets canned. More time passes, and Bruce Almighty gets named coach and GM. What are the odds that Ego Man said he wouldn’t take the head coaching job unless he were GM also?
LAFC just hosted FCD in a heated match. The ref missed an obvious red which should have been given to an FCD player. But in typical MLS fashion, these two teams are scheduled to meet again in Dallas this weekend. It gets better. LAFC is going to fly charter. They switched to that from...the same commercial flight FCD was scheduled to take. ESPN2's next game? Portland's home opener vs...any guesses?
I think that's way too low. Reportedly they tried to hire Arena last fall when it was clear that Friedel had no clue at all. ( And it has to be said, in all fairness, that Brad was in no way ready or qualified for that job and a smarter man would have turned it down) But they couldn't come to terms. So they went back to him and gave him everything he asked for. But here's the thing: The conventional.wisdom says that Arena is surely getting a pile of money and a pile of authority to do whatever he wants. He wouldn't have taken the job otherwise. Which may, in turn, mean that the Krafts have accepted that the nickel and dime operation they've been running all these years just isn't a viable option any more. One thing seems clear: if Handjob Bob wont give il Bruce what he wants when he wants it, the guy will.walk away. He won't sit there for 3 years suffering in silence. So in a way, the Krafts are now out there on the.limb too. Arena has the power to make them look not just cheap but ridiculous.
You know, the whole "I played at a high level so I'd be a good coach" doesn't quite work the same at the professional level as it does at the "director of coaching" for the local club level, huh? I'm continually amazed by how many former professionals get head coach or manager gigs without any previous coaching experience. It's a mixed bag of results - some swim, some sink - but it always strikes me as a risk.
I'd disagree with you there. Robert paid his dues, spent may years as an assistant coach with two stints as interim head coach, before he got the "interim" label taken away. Reportedly, the players of a championship-quality team were solidly behind his hiring, too. He just ended up not being very good. But the job wasn't handed to him just because he'd been a player.
That's fair as far as time served. Poor example then. I was just thinking of the player does not auto make coach theme.
