The cynic in me thinks that he will still be writing for those other publications and will now have better inside access to the machinations of MLS in the Fire organization. If he has left that stuff behind for the Fire, this could very well be a good turning point for the Fire and its supporters.
They actually hired an experienced soccer reporter to write about the Fire?!? Not another Dan Lobring! I agree with both @willydonc and @lurak, but this is one move I want to see pan out before I pan it.
I'm still waiting for a new video series. They're dumb, but it's fun content. Quincy Time was stupid, but I loved it because it was fun and made the players more accessible to fans.
Oh I agree , who knows how this will pan out . But as I stated , this is a direction changer . If anything they've realized that they've been ********ing up big-time with the fan base narrative . Something is different with the FO right now. I'm not saying it's going to be better... Just something is different. The begining of the off-season may have been the lowest depths of the sewer for Fire Fandom. But the optimism and positivity the last month is a bit heartening . I guess from rock bottom no where but up? I don't know if it'll last, but the little glimmers of hope are ********ing nice to see.
I feel bad , I like Quincy 100x better now that he's not on the Fire. He's genuinely a funny and likable guy, I really hope he gets into the media end after his career .
So, the opposite of Marcelo Balboa or Taylor Twellman, then. Kyle Martino is neither funny nor likable, but has grown into a decent analyst. Maybe soccer media or maybe actual entertainment media.
Yes we can use help on defense but anyone who thinks we will have no problem scoring goals didn't watch the first two games.
