I know theyre just quick clips from a scrimmage . But some of the highlights posted by the club of yesterday's athletico scrimmage are encouraging. Mainly how Katai and Frankowski seem to have clicked.

Does that mean they both get rooted to the bench? I hope Katai is finally out of Paulo’s doghouse. I’m not sure how or why he wasn’t played more last season.

Katai played in the most games (33) and was 5th on the team in minutes last year.

    Vincent- (32 games) 2828 minutes
    Schweinsteiger- (31) 2726
    Kappelhoff- (29) 2609
    Nikolic- (31) 2443
    Katai- (33) 2428
    McCarty- (26) 2259
    Sanchez- (25) 2207

I agree that there was no reason for him to be in Paunovic's doghouse...ever.
His frequent criticism of Katai (and lapdog Dan Kelly parroting everything) was just bizarre.

I did not realize that Katai played so much. Maybe I just remembered him getting subbed off early and thinking, why?

or all the times he didn't start after it was obvious he was the most dangerous attacking player on the roster, i.e. after his first appearance.

    Exactly.
He was frequently and illogically subbed off last season.

I'm going to agree I feel like ditching Daniel Johnson is a big mistake. The kid started out so strong with nothing to lose and was very dangerous on the dribble unlocking defenses as a late sub in a few instances. Later his first year the Fire came against squads who bunkered and he never got a chance to shine as DJ's minutes started being handed over to Mihailovic. DJ also had a few injuries in there and seemed to end up in Paunovic's doghouse too as his appearances we're completely void of the free flowing creative confidence which I can only conjecture had been brow beaten out him. Did someone yell at him to play it safe and make simple passes? I don't know but he was different and less interesting when not taking dribbling forays like Katai eventually came in and did frequently while also getting brow beaten by Paunovic. Katai reminds me of Uhtred Son of Uhtred on "The Last Kingdom" series always winning battles for the king yet never being appreciated or trusted. DJ has talent if nurtured, allowed to mature and gain confidence and roam a bit freely. Kid still reminds me of a young Georgie Best.

You guys can be optimistic about me going to watch my first mls and professional game live this upcoming season!
I know the fire is not the sexiest team in the league but it’s the closest to me (I live in Milwaukee) hopefully they give an entertaining game even if it’s not a high quality one.

Welcome to our merry band of misfits.

We may actually have a decent attacking team this season.
Defense may suck, but that should make things exciting.

A fabulous show! The books are even better, but there's 11 of them.

I smell a marketing campaign here. “The Fire. Not the sexiest team, but the closest one to you!”

  16. Unless MLS wants to have one more go at propping up Andy I'd say slim & none & slim just left the room.
Take that to the Optimism Thread.
I saw where the 2 LAs & SJ were 3 of the teams. My guess for the fourth would be Dallas.

My gut feeling has one of the Texas teams. But my brain tells me Liga MX and MLS know the "away " TV $$ will be better with Atlanta and Seattle.

You said "marketing campaign" about the Fire.

That is some good comedy there, sir!

    Thanks guys!
How much should I be looking to spend on tickets? It’s just me and my girl.

Depends where you sit, but there's not really a bad seat in the house. $25-$35 is pretty standard per ticket.

As little as possible. There should be plenty of tickets available for almost no money on Stub Hub err I guess I should say "Seat Geek".

    This is really true.
Skyway center (where my season ticket are located) is fantasitc.
Every seat in the lower level is great.
Even the "Skyway" corners are not bad.
