The Reign might have the last playoff spot wrapped up before they even take the field again. Both Washington and Utah play the day before, and are in matchups that are very unfavorable.
I have the feeling that Nicole Barnhart let quite down Utah in these last games: yes, she had some good saves for sure, but she also made an incredible number of blunders, including two wrong passes in the first half vs Seattle that just for a miracle weren't converted in goals by opponent FWs.
Almost doing something lets nobody down. Actually making errors that are converted let’s your team down. Both goals were a direct result of defenders who actually did let the team down by not marking the right player.

FT 2-1. Chicago end their regular season in 2nd on 44 pts from 24 matches. Portland are now locked into a semifinal vs. Chicago, and trail them by 5 pts with 2 to play for homefield. Utah valiantly bows out of the 2019 playoff race, down 3 with 1 to play and losing the tiebreaker to Reign FC. Ironically, Washington are still alive, down 4 with 2 to play and holding GD over Reign, with their season series all tied.
An impressive performance by Washington. They took it to NC for the last 20 minutes of the match. I wasn't impressed by either Pugh or Lavelle up until then -- but they came through brilliantly when the chips were down. It was Washington's subs that made the difference between a miserable performance for 70 minutes and winning in the last 20 minutes. Ship, Logarzo, and Feist. Was NC tired out? Turning to Chi/Utah, I've said it before. Kerr is the MVP, but Nagasato is second. Utah didn't use a single sub in the match. That is questionable as fresh legs might have helped them.
