A backline of Barnes-Oyster-Theresa is ... not fast. High lines and footraces will be the death of us.

There's another "She's gonna want that one back" moment for Seattle.

40' 1-0 Zerboni crosses from wide left to 6-top right, ball headed(?) out to 10m mid-right. Debinha settles and darts past the advancing backline, ground cross to 6-top right post. Murphy dives out, Hamilton lunges in and pokes ball past her, collides with Murphy and stays down. Oyster(?) collects at 1m 3-right, dribbles rightward and clears. Catley passes square to Yanez(?) at own 27m arc left, Debinha stabs ball to a stop and takes it away. Hamilton is still down on back at 6-top right post, NC kick into far touch. Hamilton got -- bonked on the nose? She resumes.

41' 1-0 Reign FC subs in (1 of 3) #44 Maegan Kelly for #2 Shea Groom.

42' 1-0 Balcer dribbles through 30m mid-left to 25m arc left, diagonal pass behind Yanez(?)'s run up centerline, to Kelly unmarked through box top mid-right. Kelly touches to 15m mid-right, shoots right instep leaning back, high over bar. Reign's role players get so few of those looks that they're still in antsy-newbie mode, and can't keep the shots down.

43' 1-0 Ln.Williams stabs a square pass to Debinha at 23m right post, she shoots right instep across mouth past Murphy pulling up, off left post low, it glances wide left and over.

44' 1-0 Yanez is down at midfield mid-right. Stoppage, trainers apply ... concussion protocol?
45+1' (of +6') 1-0 Yanez walks into near touch.
45+2' (of +6') 1-0 Reign FC subs in (2 of 3) #27 Addison Steiner for #17 Beverly Yanez.

45+3' (of +6') 1-0 Reign cross to 6-top left, header try(?) cleared. Reign scramble and win possession in box, backpass to box top mid-left. Catley steps into it, one-touch left instep rises over Labbé's hands, off crossbar 1/4 left, bounces down not over goalline, up and away. Reign control again, backpass to Yanez going away at arc top. Debinha hip-charges her off ball, counters through circle back, Reign tackle it away.

45+5' (of +6') 1-0 Ln.Williams turns alongside ball to arc top, shoots right instep up centerline, Murphy catches.

    HT 1-0.

Anyone else catch the commentator's reference by association to Megan Rapinoe's choice of hair color when Steiner came on for the Reign?

It appears that Steiner's hair has been pink since at least the end of 2018. Perhaps it was Pinoe's inspiration for making that change herself back in May.

46' 1-0 Reign FC subs in (3 of 3) #19 Kristen McNabb for #13 Celia Jiménez Delgado.

49' 1-0 Hamilton dribbles through box top center(?), quick square pass to Ln.Williams unmarked through 9m 6-right. Ln.Williams veers to 8m center, shoots left instep up centerline, Murphy sprawls right and blocks ball out to 6-top 2/5 left. Ln.Williams stabs right foot at it but unbalances and falls down backward away from ball, Murphy hops out and collects.

53' 1-0 Ln.Williams shoots from box top left to left post low, Murphy catches.
54' 1-0 Hinkle crosses from 6m wide left to 5m 1/4 left, Murphy comes out and catches low just behind Ln.Williams' run.

Grateful for that HOU-CHI lightning delay. Now there shouldn't be any overlap in the games so the streams won't have to share a laptop screen.

67' 2-0 Mathias leads a 3-v-3 counter through box top right to 14m mid-right, shoots right instep rising toward 1/3 left, Murphy double-blocks down and away, Reign clear.

70' 2-0 Catley dribbles past circle top left, touches past O'Sullivan stretching for ball, trips self over O'Sullivan's leg left in her way. Foul, yellow card on O'Sullivan.

71' 2-0 Barnes(?) fk, up the left, cross. Balcer stumbles over ball at 6m left post, backpass to McNabb at arc top left, quick pass to Kelly momentarily open at 15m right post. Kelly gets closed down, quick stab goalward has no power, bounces slowly to Labbé and she topples upon it.

Yes, I've got the feeling that Debinha was the best Brazilian player at the World Cup and she had already showed in NT games this tendency to readily volley towards the goal the crosses that were sent to her (see the wonderful backheel-volley shot that was saved by Giuliani in Brazil-Italy).

Very happy for Katie Johnson: she had seemed a special player to me since the times when she was playing for the Reign. :)

Kinda wish Yahoo Sports was still showing this. Not everyone has ESPNews; I imagine I'm not the person annoyed by the decision to restrict access to these games to people who pay for a premium channel. Some coverage upgrade that is. An offtimes flaky stream is by leaps and bounds better than not getting to watch at all.

    ESPN2 will be doable.

My cable subscription won't let me access ESPNNEWS - any work-arounds out there?

03' 1-0 Kopmeyer dribbles up to 16m (her) 3-right, steps forth to kick long. Raso jumps sideways and stuff-blocks ball behind her to 12m 1/4 left, turns past her and follows in stride, passes into empty net 2/5 left back low, flies away like a plane.

12' 1-0 Weatherholt lags a backpass too soft from own arc top, Brynjarsdóttir follows ball, Kopmeyer slides out to 8m left post and kicks away to 16m 6-right -- directly to Raso's feet. Raso follows to 13m 4-right, shoots right instep toward 1/3 right, Pressley heads away at 4m.

18' 1-0 Klingenberg left ck to 5m left post, Purce jumps behind Hill, ball bounces off Hill's head to 4m 1/4 right. Sinclair jumps in front of Pressley, heads toward 1/5 right, Kopmeyer gets a left forearm touch and pushes it just wide right.

36' 1-0 Klingenberg fk at 37m box left, driven to 8m center. Brynjarsdóttir stoop-heads past Hill(?) to crossbar center, Kopmeyer jumps and pushes it over.

40' 1-0 Ubogagu cross from 9m wide left to 8m 1/4 right, Hill jumps above Klingenberg and heads over Eckerstrom's fingertips, off crossbar center, bounces straight up and over.

    HT 1-0.

I can't fault NWSL for jumping on the deal. This year ESPNEWS, next year ESPN!

Also, the thought of thousands of Buffalo Wild Wings and other sports bars across the USA showing NWSL matches live (because they all have full cable tiers) makes me feel better.

60' 2-0 Orlando subs in (1 of 3) #20 Abby Elinsky for #17 Dani Weatherholt.

61' 2-1 van Egmond touches through circle top, pokes to Marta at 30m arc right. Marta passes to Ubogagu at 24m left post, she pokes a pass through arc tangent left looking for Elinsky's run through box top 6-right. Ball blocks ball across arc top to 22m right post. Marta runs on, shoots left instep golaaaaaazo past Eckerstrom's fingers, through right 90 into back right high.
