Whether it was 1904 or 3200, it looked awful. What would have been acceptable in any other team’s venue (in this league at any rate) was swallowed whole in Qualcomm as expected. That was assuming you could get in due to the lines for picking up tickets (the only way to acquire them) the longer line to get in, and the asinine restrictions (NFL level) on what you could bring into the stadium which didn’t include children’s strollers and women’s purses apparently. I for one won’t be going back.

In SD I’ll be waiting for Landon Donovan’s USL side next year.

    782 in Miami

No number for Atlanta, but I’m see people say there wasn’t more then 100 in attendance.

California has plenty of junior college stadiums bigger than 5K, mostly vestiges of a pre-TV era. Remember Sac Republic debuting with 20K attendance? That was a JC stadium. My alma mater has an 8500-capacity stadium. Laney's stadium is more modest, not from that era, as the current campus opened in 1970, but they are genuinely packing the house.

Roots are the one bright spot it seems in this NISA/NPSL mess. Just a shame they’re boxed out of USL after NISA inevitably implodes.

Official number in Atlanta was 112. NISA is going to need to do a better come spring season. Half the games played so far have been under 1k.

I don’t know what’s more impressive. That so few showed up, or that they actually reported that.

Is there a way I can subscribe to this thread without sarcastic rehashing? Or does that just come with the territory?

Breaking: Two sources tell me that the Philadelphia Fury will be suspending operations in @nisaleague until the Spring season. No comment yet from the club. This will clearly impact the Fall Showcase schedule.

Damn it MLS! You Ruin EVERYTHING!

Well looks like the Philadelphia Fury are suspending operations from NISA

And the Milwaukee Torrent are planning to leave the NPSL Members Cup for USL or NISA...

    Wonder which I would choose!?

If Des Moines joins USL L1 in 2021, Lansing, Madison, Des Moines, Omaha and Milwaukee would be a good start to a North Central area region. Better than Milwaukee traveling to San Diego/Oakland/Miami ...

I mean I think they’d be smart to go that way with how most of NISA outside of Oakland is floundering. But then soccer owners haven’t always been the smartest of folk.

It will be an interesting decision. It seems like the obvious thing to do, the only objection would be having to pay the expansion fee. Of course, the expansion fee is what keeps the fly-by-night teams out.

Frankly at this point anyone who doesn’t pay the USL expansion fee is likely fly by night based on what’s happened historically. I mean take NISA’s first team 1904. They were rejected by MLS and USL, and after having seen their product it’s clear to see why...

And really, any balking at the League 1 expansion fee ... yeah, you're in it for the morality of pure unfranchised soccer!

    It's just a lot lol.

Not saying the mass cynicism isn't warranted but it's like trying to read, idk, Deadspin for the news. If there was another place for updates on the NISA, I'd follow it but this is all I've found.

As fanboys who can type do, some fanboy who can type started a "news source" called NISA Nation or something. If you want breathless commentary on how well the New World Order is doing, that is one option.

Here, we tend to trade more in realism.

**Some of us here** trade more in realism. And Nisa Nation does not appear to have updated since week 1. I believe the "fanboy" concerned is a supporter of Chattanooga and I suspect he has realised that his local team have a hell of a lot more idea what they are doing than most of the league they were planning to join.

I take no joy in this, but I'd predict the chances of NISA actually kicking off a full season are only about 30%.....

I take plenty of joy in it. The era of divisive alt leagues for owners who couldn’t hack it in real leagues needs to end. The order has clearly been established, live with it.

If they keep up what their doing who knows maybe the USL will go to Mark Hall and force him to sell the rights to Oakland to them. The league will do what they think is in their best interest and I doubt he puts together anything close to what they’ve done. Also don’t see them working together. They’d also have a nice little rivalry to build up.
