There's a pretty funny Inside The Far Post satire involving Sam Allardyce. The title is "Sam Allardyce Spotted Outside Downing Street," a wry British implication that he should replace Theresa May to save the UK from relegation.
June-July is loaded up with the international stuff. Women's World Cup, Copa America and the Gold Cup. It looks like all three tourneys have their semi finals on July 2-3 and the final on July 7.
I’m sure Beckham is just salivating at the chance to have a DP he can really sink his teeth into: A Catalonia-based reporter considered Tier 1 for Barcelona news has reported in the last hour that Luis Suarez has an offer from Inter Miami to be their first DP.He would start in 2020, his contract would be for 4 years, and has not responded to the offer yet. #InterMiami #MLS pic.twitter.com/IGBYJBYmFJ— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) June 3, 2019 For Suarez, I’m sure he has to consider what sort of dental insurance he can afford on said contract. I’m also sure that Barcelona has the capability to fill the cavity that will be left behind by his departure. If he does sign, I wonder how many defenders are chomping at the bit to start clipping him with some dirty “orange card” tackles. Too many puns for Mr Biter?
No because I see no reason to floss over his reputation just because he has an offer to play in MLS. Some may think the deal is a non-tartar but rumor has it David Beckham was sighted leaving an adult 'toy' store with one of these:
Colorado Rapids Affiliation With Switchbacks Still Work-In-Progress for Both Clubs https://lastwordonsoccer.com/2019/0...hbacks-still-work-in-progress-for-both-clubs/
Presumably Miller Lite will be their jersey sponsor? Pretty sweet signing. Tooth be told, they may not win the Cup, but he'll probably at least get a little plaque.
I don't love this article. Maybe its time to come out and just rebrand the Springs as Rapids II because that's clearly what they're operating as. I think the Swtichbacks fans were expecting more than they were ever going to get from the affiliation.
They may do that now, until recently they couldn't because of the confusion that would have resulted from having two Rapids 'B' teams.

Will have to remember this line for all the pro/rel discussions that come up re. MLS: Nashville CEO Ian Ayre on whether MLS would do promotion/relegation:
Colorado connection! Fort Collins' Estelle Johnson and Highlands Ranch's Janine Beckie are both in the starting lineup for Cameron and Canada as they face each other in Group E action today. Nice feather in the cap for the state of Colorado. It's not just Pugh and Horan repping CO in the WC.
This after Crookham said at the Switchbacks STH preseason gathering, "We're not gonna throw a bunch of kids out there and lose a bunch of games and call it development."
Nigeria’s women were robbed today. Missed PK was “VARred” and total BS France got to retake given the marginal “off the line call”, not to mention a good chunk of French players across the 18 line too. Guess that’s home field advantage.
Pretty much exactly to the new rules, no robbing at all. The rules are dumb, and this was a good example of why, but the reef and the VAR did exactly what FIFA has instructed at this point.
I had the game on mute in my office today and I saw all the hoopla on the screen. I saw the replays and just assumed it was retaken due to encroachment by both teams in the box. I thought to myself meh....fair call both teams were in the area before the PK struck. I didn’t agree with call but thought whatever. It wasn’t until this afternoon that I learned the retake was because the Nigerian GK moved. Then I instantly said wow what a BS call. They got robbed on that play. I also said well....kinda serves them right....every time I looked up they were borderline playing dirty and definitely had a foul first mentality even they were only called for 13 fouls.
VAR's kind of causing issues because the laws never really were called by the letter, but in the review process, they can't not call those types of things. The goalkeeper thing is one of those plays that rarely was called unless the keeper blatantly left the line early. I don't think the play like Nigeria-France tends to be called very often in non-VAR situations. For some things, like penalties awarded for fouls on the edge of the box on plays where there really was little chance of a goal...maybe they need to alter the rules. I dunno. VAR can be good sometimes, but it doesn't fit with soccer as well as with the NFL, where there are all the stoppages and rules lawyering anyway.
