The Rapids, but only because Kei could run circles around everyone on the field for Wealdstone :D

If anyone was curious, the English non-league team Howard and his fellow Memphis 901 investors bought, Dagenham & Redbridge FC, finished 18th of 24 in the English National League. 12 points out of the relegation zone and 20 points short of the promotion playoffs to league football.

I felt immediately bored with the return leg once Barca spanked Liverpool at Camp Nou. I would never have expected this, maybe they played the B-Squard to 'save' their best players for something??

BTW Alan Koch was fired by Cincy at they have 8 goals this year.

I'm more of a Barca fan than a Liverpool fan, but LFC were brilliant last night. Pretty much everything they tried worked. And the last goal made me :ROFLMAO: even though it was against my team.

I can't stomach Liverpool - not in a box, not with a fox, etc.

But, wow. And an unbelievable final goal.

Sorry for spoilers but since they're out in this thread already, this greatest Champions league semi final round was amazing but was also a nightmare for me. After the Rapids, my two favorite teams: Everton and Arsenal. Bah, what a soccer season it's been.

They won that game 2 - 1. That's not easy for a bunch of guys who work other jobs and had to travel to Texas. Next up is against the Switchbacks in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 PM. Anybody thinking roadtrip?

Chicago Fire buy-out of Bridgeview lease, will be interesting to see where they end up building a new stadium.

Seems like one of the reason for Bridgeview failure was that the stadium was not able to anchor development and revitalization. I wonder what that means for Dick’s and commerce city.

Difference being that KSE operates the Dick and gets all the revenues from game day. The Fire ha to split all revenues with Bridgeview and has to pay $60M to break their lease with them.

Another interesting fact is the original Bridgeview deal involved the MLS so if there is an MLS team in Chicago region, it must play at Bridgeview (or pay them their expected game revenue) so moving Fire to "break the lease" and putting an expansion team in doesn't solve the issue.

My guess is MLS is involved in this buyout, a USL team will end up playing in Bridgeview and Fire will play in Soldier field until new stadium is completed (guess 3-5 years down the line).

Saw Manchester United vs. Bayern Munich there many years ago, the steeply pitched seating makes for good soccer sightlines.

Hey, I was at that game, too! 2005. I had just graduated from college.

As I recall, Jonathan Spector got into the game for Man U.

I think Atlanta and Seattle is showing that the SSS model may be a thing of the past. Partnering with NFL teams is less hassle than protracted battles with municipalities. And if done correctly (ie not Gillette/Kraft) they can attract big crowds. Plus nfl has got to love excess capacity being used over the summer.

Also one of Roy Keane's last appearances for them (iirc) and the all time scariest GK Oliver Kahn (ftw) in the penalty kicks that followed the somewhat boring regular time draw.

    FC Cincinnati v. Montreal

    Result and Notes (open)
FC Cincinnati 2, Montreal 1. Notes:
    • Cincinnati now has 11 points on the season, and the Spoon race is shrinking. At this moment, Colorado (2) and New England (8) are the only MLS teams with single digit points.
    • Cincinnati had 26,239 fans. They were loud and involved in the match.
    • Montreal is a good team. They met a strong Cincinnati defense. Cincy's 4-3-3 effectively neutralized Montreal's opportunistic 5-3-2.
    • Cincinnati's coaching change was darned effective. In one match, they changed formation, quit looking like expansion pushovers, started playing to the talent level of their roster, and had players in much more natural positions.

    San Jose v. Chicago

    Show Spoiler
Chris Wondolowski is the new all-time MLS goal scorer. He snagged a four-goal hat trick (21', 48', 74', and 76') in San Jose's 4-1 win versus the Chicago Fire. He now sits at 148 goals and counting.

I wonder what Tigres's salary budget is like. They have guys on their bench who would be good starers for other LigaMX teams, orTAM or DP types in MLS - Enner Valencia, Lucas Zelarayan, Jurgen Damm.

Lost Vegas Lights (coached by Wynalda) lost last evening to a lower-division club, OCFC (Orange County). LV had come back in 2nd half to tie at 3, but totally lost the thread and gave up two goals in last 5 mins or so.
