I think when they 'bent them for Beckham' it had a positive impact on the overall league. To me that signing was a paradigm shift in what was possible in the USA.
And remember, over the last 10+ years LA has just forced the rules changes that were then applied equally to everyone else. Its not like they're getting special rules only for them (which did appear to be the case early in MLS's history). MLS would likely do the same thing for Colorado if we had the foresight to actually present them with a move that was good for the league and us even though it was outside the current rule set.
A formal announcement is expected on Friday that @MLS is awarding new franchise to Charlotte, according to two people familiar with the negotiations. @MLS board of governors will discuss "potential expansion markets, including Charlotte," on Thurs.— Steve Harrison (@Sharrison_WFAE) December 2, 2019 Could this be Tim Hinchey's next gig?
Haven't been paying super close attention. To expansion. Anyone know if Phoenix is in the running? Or did Charlotte take the last slot? Was in Charlotte a few years ago, the local usl team had the Rapids crest on their bumper stickers. I didn't think our agreement included that type of thing, but must have. Glad to see them get in MLS, but at some point the league will have to focus mainly (only?) on conference play with the final game being the main connection point. I could see it working that way, I really only watch the west teams anyway.....
RSL has removed the interim tags and named Freddy Juarez and Elliot Fall permanent head coach and GM, respectively. Both have been with the club forever, both were in their interim roles down the stretch of the 2019 season.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) December 3, 2019 RSL announce Coach & GM
Just two players end up being selected: Saad Abdul-Salaam by Cincinnati and Juan Agudelo by Toronto. Interested to see Agudelo with TFC. Capable of playing in a number of different spots; like the fit.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) December 3, 2019 Agudelo has to rank up there with Adu for most disappointed
I visited the new National Soccer Hall of Fame while I was in the Dallas area and was impressed with the job they have done setting it up. There's lots and lots of technology--facial recognition, virtual reality, and CGI graphics. Families with children should definitely check it out as the kids will be entertained for hours. And of course, there's the famed Colorado Caribous jersey, which is even more impressive in real life than in photos. Downsides? I was the only person there on a Thursday afternoon so they really need to do some promotion. And also, Frisco is a awfully bland suburb quite a distance (with toll roads) from the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It makes the drive to Dick's seem pretty easy.
Anyone know if Veracruz (they folded this week) has any players worth getting? All Veracruz players in all categories (youth and women’s team) are now free agents #ligamxeng https://t.co/hEVU5cLu2q— Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) December 5, 2019

Question for @MrPerfectNot and any other Everton fans out there - who do you want to see as manager? I'm not happy about any of the names I've seen tossed around - don't want Unai Emery, don't want David Moyes back...
There are rumors about Adrian Heath... but I honestly don't know if those are real rumors, or totally ginned up by Minnesota fans who want him gone.
Latest rumor is Ancelotti - allegedly he's in Merseyside now for final discussions..... and Everton was a big club, and has big club aspirations again.....but.....
Well, looks like Charlotte will be announced today as the 30th MLS team. 📍 Charlotte, NCSomething happening today? 😉 pic.twitter.com/jdzYrnpei6— Major League Soccer (@MLS) December 17, 2019 *tap tap*This thing on? 🎤 pic.twitter.com/FOftQfzTfb— Major League Soccer (@MLS) December 17, 2019
I wonder if that we will see a reshuffling of the conferences, unless they plan to keep Nashville as a western conference team - which would be odd given that it’s farther East on a map than both Chicago and St. Louis. I also imagine they will want to gin up a rivalry between St Louis and Kansas City, but you never know with the Don
Not convinced Ancellotti is a good choice but he may be able to pull some players our way. Hoping for the best.
The Monterrey - Liverpool Club World Cup game was surprisingly competitive and entertaining. Liverpool had a mixed lineup (Salah started, but other starters like Mane, Van Dijk, Fabinho and Wijnaldum were not in the lineup) but Monterrey played them fairly evenly for long stretches.
I enjoy the club world cup and wish they would keep this current format. I just wish they would spread the hosting around, and not just have it in the middle east and Japan.
Isn't basically a money thing (bid process)? The larger format sounds bad. But FIFA can't ignore giant money pots.
