Agreed. It was a dirty thing but if IFAB and all those under them really want to improve the image of the game this kind of ham acting needs to be dealt with when it’s this nonsensical.
I'm curious if any leagues have data on how increasing suspensions has impacted the occurrences of SFP and VC in their game. One game certainly isn't going to stop anyone, and MLS fines are always a joke. Fines should be a percentage of their wages, not a fixed amount. You can't make the fines too high because there are still plenty of players that don't make squat. Also, simply having VAR you'd think players wouldn't be stupid enough to try stuff like this.
I’ve seen Gary Beswick use it in the Premier League. The laws (or maybe Us soccers guide to procedures) say we can use subtle hand gestures that aren’t part of the official signals as long as it doesn’t draw undue attention, are discussed pregame, and can help quickly give information.
Given that the commentary is from SKC's broadcast team, I credit it less. Home team announcers tend to side with the view that favors their side.
Week in Review is up for week 2. Our Corey Rockwell has a play up for Call of the Week I'm interested to see PRO's analysis next week of the What Would You Do OS scenario from Portland-Tulsa https://www.proassistantreferees.com/mls-week-in-review/week-2-march-9-10
http://proreferees.com/2019/03/16/the-definitive-angle-mls-week-2/ This is something new. A good breakdown of the VAR. It’s without the audio but some of them have timelines. Very good thought process behind what PRO wants for VAR. and very transparent. Very good read I hope they continue this.
Nice piece. I like that PRO is trying to stamp out the "take another look" concept and really focused on VARs not sending things down unless the VAR identifies a clear error.
