As I mentioned in another thread, FCD and their FO will jump at any and all opportunity to move the big Dallas vs. Houston fixture to a Thursday or Sunday night. Thus handcuffing our people when wanting to travel in terrific numbers up I-45. Hold this on a Friday or Saturday and many can go. Hold this on a Thursday or Sunday and getting outta work on a Thursday is difficult at best. Going back to work Monday morning after returning from the road trip to Frisco at 1:00am as the match kicks off at 7:00, even more a challenge. Rey, here is again FCD and their FO think tank at work.
FS1 programming staff didn't conjure this switch up folks.

So why do you think Fox sports didn’t ask for this move?

Cuz Dallas n their massive fan base, ahem doesn't move the needle worth a damn for TV pull/viewers. Our market mighta used to. Don't know how we stack up here in 2019. It is Rivalry Week in MLS that fixture weekend in late August so there is that, yet if so, probably a few other derby clashes that weekend that would pull national viewers more than ours will. FS1 might be thinking ahead I will admit. As the eternal optimist I would love to think our Dynamo are legit here this season thus far and might want to have an attacking, eye appealing to the nuetral viewer, team to show. Add thia element with the Texas Derby and perhaps this is what FS1 programming staff are thinking. However, Fox and ESPN for that matter have never really have promoted our State derby match. This normally just arrives from Mlssoccer.com press or a mention from each city's home FO marketing department. Sad really as our Texas Derby extends beyond the soccer and is an actual cultural, we just don't like each other in all sports and in all things Texas way of being type of hatred for each other. Very genuine in nature. The opposite of say what MLS HQ has to conjure up with lip service to that NYC vs. NJ MetroBulls "rivalry". That crap.

OK. So we agree the move was requested by TV.

    Naw.
    Don't be nieve.
FCD's FO has a track record of shifting this fixture since the 2012 season iirc. Specifically if they can on their own accord. Certainly if the opportunity presents itself via the networks.
Look, the end game being less Houston Dynamo fans n supporters in their stadium. Which runs contrary to any sports network looking to package a full stadium and derby type pro soccer type atmosphere right Don. Think about it. Again, MLS still needs to be cultivated and marketed to the masses. Having a Portland vs. Seattle game with an incredible atmosphere both from home and away supporters sells MLS. Grows the sport of soccer.
