Latest on Yamil Asad: Likely deal with D.C. United is a pre-contract for 2020, not to join the roster for last few matches this year. So don't expect a signing before today's MLS deadline. Perhaps next week. (He has played once in 10 months -- fitness and form issues.) #dcu— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) August 30, 2019
Stop thinking with logic Q Jones! The owners have made very clear that they disagree with you. "Nobody" except the owners would stick with a front office with a losing record over a decade. They've never uttered a single word about how they measure success in the front office. Despite never advancing far in the playoffs, if we make the playoffs at all, the owners stick with the Kasper/Olsen tandem. "Good enough" must be their motto. I don't expect to win the cup every year, but our fan base deserves a contending team every year.
From Pablo: Nine-month loan with an option to buy. Durkin has long wanted a chance to ply his trade overseas - in January, DC turned down a similar offer from Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. WTF?? - We turned down top 5 Bundesliga team?
I think you're a great person. But I hate handicapping our flank, just to play stop gap in the middle.
So he sits around?? Plays in the Alexandria County Rec league to stay in shape until then? Sign him send him to Loudon.
No, he signs a contract that starts Jan 1 2020 - or whenever MLS contracts start for next season for salary cap reasons. Until then he still is owned by someone else I imagine, he can try to train with them, though they have left him out of shape by not ever playing him. Which either means he's not as good as this forum thinks he is, or his coach is worse than this forum thinks Ben Olsen is
I wouldn't call Sint-Truiden a no name team, it's the typical mid table team, that stays there, every now and then gets relegated and then goes back up again. Jupiler League is quite competitive, and they have the best playoff system around IMO. Durkin has a much better chance to play with continuity there than at a bigger club, like Club Brugge or Anderlecht (which this year is doing terrible), then if he is the player people were thinking, we shall see.
Goff is reporting that DC United will likely be signing a pre-contract to play with the team starting in 2020, and a USL contract to play with Loudoun United for the rest of 2019. . @YamilAsad11 has arrived in Washington. Looking like he will sign a pre-contract with D.C. United for 2020 and sign a USL contract to play for Loudoun United right away. Additional details to come ... #dcu #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) September 3, 2019
I'm going to put 1/3 odds that Rooney picks up a small injury against Puebla. The team is obviously better without him and Olsen has a history of giving his players an easy out by claiming that they're injured when in reality they aren't going to play because of a coach's decision. Any takers?
I do not believe anyone was injured during the game although there was a moment I was worried about Quincy Amarikwa.
Did United win? Going thru my tweets I can see that it rained a little and that DC gave up a goal, but no real scores. I miss the better parking availability that wouldn't have stopped me from attending a nice Wednesday friendly.
