Anyone want to comment on whether Yow seemed useful beyond the deflected goal? Just wondering if he is a real option for the rest of the season.
I was at the game last night, Yow was huge, excellent skills, vision of play, run. A very bright future in front of him if he keeps his head well on his shoulders.
Anyway, it was a fun evening and a fun game, I don't think there were three goals of difference between them and us, but Liga teams are very skilled and cynical. And although I only know some of their players, I think they used largely regular starters.
All of this and its clear that Yow has a certain level of aggression and moves with no hesitation which I love. You see some guys who receive the ball, think and then do thankfully for us Griffin Yow isn't one of them. I'm buying all the Griffin Yow stock I can.
I didn't get to see this game, but from what I've gathered and what little I've watched of highlights with Loudoun and the U-17s, it seems like he could contribute some this year. Whether he's ready to be a regular in the 18, who knows? Would be really cool to see. He'll presumably be gone again in sept/oct for the U-17 world cup.
They didn't have pins, but they had scarves. They had fifty scarves and were sold out before kickoff. Can't see how it makes sense to print up so few.....
D.C. United falls in friendly, but @griffin_yow finds confidence builder in loss. By @EmilyGiam #dcu #mls https://t.co/MUqZFHKdYh— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) May 23, 2019 Thx, Jay!
In the meantime, Italy U20 beat the equivalent age team Mexico, there is really no rivalry between Italy and Mexico but I always feel a subtle pleasure when we beat them...
July 18 and 21, Audi Field will host a tournament among Ligue 1 teams, OM, Bordeaux, Montpellier and St Etienne. Two double headers. While I wouldn't give a damn about a firendly Barcelona-Man Utd at Fed Ex, I will probably end up going to all of these games.
If only it were not such a pain in the a$$ to get where these matches are being played..................
Article from Goff states that they only have 3 full locker rooms and a team in the second game will be using "ample space in the back of the house" until one of the locker rooms is vacated by a team in the first game. Easy low budget solution for a made up tournament but not something sustainable for an official tournament.
Crap. MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends @dcunited's Paul Arriola for an additional match for red card last week at Houston. He will miss tomorrow at New England and Wednesday vs Chicago #dcu— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) May 24, 2019
He was always suspended Saturday. The fickle hand of Disco has turned once again out of our favor. Thx, Jay!
