Really tough game here. Despite how much I want to ride this wave of excitement, I think our travel woes catch up to us here, and we lose this one. Fortunately I don't see a lot of our East rivals getting points from either LA team, so it won't hurt us too much in the long run.
LA's attack is very good, and Zlatan has been Zlatan-esque the past two weeks, but LA's defense is just average. The Union either need to contain Zlatan or win in a high scoring shootout. I don't see either of those two things happening though.
It'll be a boring game until late. Then Zlatan will do something insane like scoring a goal off of a free kick using his hair somehow. LAG 1 - 0 Union.
Monteiro in place of Aaronson, otherwise no changes. Unless they want to try the Accam-Burke partnership. But even with his dry spell I think Fafa's workrate still gives him the edge over Burke. Any point(s) will be a bonus.
Missed the post-game stuff from Saturday. Was Fafa okay? I assumed he was subbed out because of the kick to the gut he took, but wasn't 100% certain.
I think the reason why Tanner was big on moving Picault to forward is that his ability to press is superb. He is a constant annoyance to any team trying to play out of the back. That being said, there's a reason the Union can afford him, and it's because his finishing is not always on target. Hopefully it's just a confidence thing and he can turn that around.
I doubt his finishing rate will ever get any better than it is but that doesn't change the fact that defenses have to deal with his speed the same as someone who finishes better. He does seem like one of the fastest players in the league and considering our roster it makes some sense to me.
I think the Union can realistically get 10 points from the next 5 games. I'm thinking that includes 0 points in this one.
I've never thought of our team as particularly fast, but we're literally rolling out Fafa, Accam, Santos, and Burke as our forward rotation these days.
I agree with you about Fafa and Titi, but I wouldn't say Burke is particularly fast. I haven't seen enough of Santos to know.
I thought I read some preseason fluff-piece talking about how Santos is the fastest guy on the team ...
He's fast enough to play effectively on the wings, which makes him faster than average, but I'd agree that his striker game is more predicated on a combo of power and burst. He's fast for the 4th fastest striker on the roster. And yeah, Santos is supposed to be a real speedster.
One less forward to rotate for now....... https://www.brotherlygame.com/2019/...-sergio-santos-suffers-another-injury-setback
So frustrating. Out of all of the guys we got this off-season, Fabian included, Santos is the one I am most excited to see. At this rate he may never touch the field anytime soon.
