Dallas has a very good but very young attacking core. Pomykal (19), Aranguiz (22), Ferreira (18) and Cerrillo (18) can be pushed around. Ziegler and Hedges (CBs) are experienced but on the slower side. Like all Union games this season where they were successful (ATL, CLB and CIN) and unsuccessful (TOR and SKC), they need to: 1. Be organized in back 2. Boss the midfield 3. Finish changes If they do those things well, they will win. If they fail in at least two of those three areas, Dallas will be about to score in bunches. I would put out the same lineup as Saturday but sub in Jamiro for Aaronson.
3 wins on the bounce? Can't quite shake off the traditional Union pessimism so I'll vote tie. Don't expect any changes to the lineup.
I am still leery about predicting nice things for the club. They'll have to rattle off about 4 wins in a row before I start maybe believing. Loss.
Will be in the Big Easy this weekend so better entertainment options. Will probably record it and watch on Monday after I get back so depending on results that might take 0-60 minutes. Feels weird that I am thinking there might be an unforced lineup change from Curtin and that there might be legitimate debate about what he chooses to do. Come to think of it, there might be *gasp* multiple valid options.
Dallas are a "good" MLS team. Generally we have less than even odds against the top third of MLS sides, so I'll go with loss.
Voted draw on this one. We've been playing really well and I think we continue to do that, but I just feel like FCD is a good team and may push us enough that we will run out of answers to the tune of a 2-2 split.
I am curious to see who Jimbo starts in the midfield. I am guessing Fabian, Bedoya, and Haris are locks, but will the other shuttler spot be Aaronson or Monty? Aaronson has been good, but they didn't bring Monty in to sit. I have a hunch Aaronson will start this one on the bench. He's definitely the future, but I don't think they'll want to ride him too hard as a rookie, kinda like how Dortmund used Pulisic as they eased him into the senior side.
What if they start Fabian, Arronson, Bedoya and Monty in midfield? That would be an aggressive lineup for Jimbo to start.
Interesting stat on mls' website today: FCD has the highest passing accuracy % in mls right now. They also have the second highest % possession, although Atlanta is number one in that stat so make of it what you will.
That's the spirit. I voted for a win, mostly because it's at home. Haven't seen Dallas play yet, so I'm going with blind optimism.
That thought occurred to me. I'd love to see it, but I just don't see Jimbo sitting Haris if he's healthy.
3 strikers for 2 slots 5 midfielders for 4 slots 3 centerbacks for 2 slots Not a bad problem to have. Union are big favorites: PHI: -120 Draw +268 DAL: + 324
Fabián picks up another yellow for a foul that led directly to a FC Dallas goal. He's got to stop picking up yellows. This match just epitomizes the Union.
Another ref that can't control the game. Gave Fabian an early card but after that allowed Dallas to foul their way through the game with no yellows until that one for Ziegler for gamesmanship.
Very impressed of what little we saw of Monteiro tonight. His game is not defensive...his shot to set up the PK was impressive. Jimbo needs to find a way to get him more minutes.
