The overarching plan for the club at this point appears to be to lull the other team into a sense of control with poor striker play for a half of soccer...then unleash the hellbeast demigod Ilsinho to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat while their guard is down.
Pretty sure they did check it, which is why it took so long to take the penalty. It was close and Parker or whoever the other CB is may have just kept him on. Would like to see a still image, but live I thought the was also off.
All penalties are checked by VAR, just like all goals and red cards. Usually it happens so quickly that you don't notice because it's an obvious play, but here there was a delay before Jamiro was allowed to take it because they wanted to make sure about the offsides.
On the telecast they thought they were checking the handball, not offside. When I look at the turf cut, Bedoya is past the last CB as the ball is played. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally ok with it. Let’s just not revert to “we always get hosed by the refs” later on when they go the other way. 1137527848133177344 is not a valid tweet id
Thanks for keeping track of this over the years. One thing I noticed, having spent how countless hours using Excel myself...your "Average" series is being weighed down after game 30 by the 2010 season since that season only had 30 games.
So at this stage, 4 points ahead of 2011 (previous highest points at halfway) and 10 points ahead of 2018 (highest points at season end).
Can we just jump right to the 1st round of the playoffs now? I want to know if the emotional investment & excitement that I've poured into this season, so far, is worth it in the end.
Depends how you define "worth it." Unless they win MLS Cup (or somehow miss the playoff entirely), the season will end with a loss. . .
I hear that, but winning a home playoff game and then losing at home to Red Bull or NYCFC in the next round would suck.
Good catch. I just ran the functions down for this update and neglected to pay special attention to those. I normally had them averaged out against the years where we had played 34 games. It should be right on the next update.
No problem, happy to contribute. Thanks again for tracking this...the engineer/Excel geek in me loves reviewing the Union's historical performance in graphical form whenener you post them. One thought...I'd be curious to see an average playoff cutoff line for the 10 years we've been in existence. I'm happy to do it if you are willing to share your spreadsheet. PM me if you are interested.
