I was kind of convinced he would sit on the bench and hold out.

It is destroying American soccer, it's helping out Concacaf.

So you're saying MLS is destroying Jamaican soccer as well then?

Jamaica are a fun team to watch, if not more a little rough around the edges. It'd be more enjoyable to watch them if I didn't have to worry about playing them in the semi again.

You probably don't have to worry about that.

It's too bad VAR technology isn't advanced enough to be used in tournaments. There was a number of times it would have been beneficial in this game.

Nice to see some serious CONCACAFing to wrap up the game.

    But not with Guyana!

Now that I've jinxed that, it's off to the airport and then onward to St. Paul MN.

    Have fun.

I've promised myself I'll go to whichever Hex game inevitably lands there.

I don't remember the last time I wore a scarf to work. I think that may be US Soccer's problem. I'll try to fix it tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see how the Dark Clouds react, this being new ground for them and all.

If we win, will we play Wonderwall??? ;)

Meanwhile, in that other tournament - it's hard to keep track of them all - the U21 Euro Championships

pk to France resulting from a red card to England for a very reckless tackle in the penalty area. France missed an earlier pk in the first half. This time, the pk ricochets off the post directly back to the penalty taker who touches it. Despite France putting the ball in the net, it's no goal because the penalty taker touched it twice without anyone else touching it. These new rules ...

    still England 1- 0 France

I can't tell if that's a joke or not, but that's been the rule for a while.

Has it? Maybe I haven't seen that happen before then. I'm just out of sorts with the rules now.

That said, a lovely own goal puts France ahead in added time.

    England 1-2 France

I learned a PK didn't count when a guy accidentally kicked it off his other foot before it went toward the goal. In this case the ball hit the post before the shooter's second touch, but if the LOTG (Laws of the Game) say it must touch another player before the kicker touches it a second time, it's black-and-white to not count the goal.

I can already see this Trinidad team absolutely torching Trapp/Bradley on the counter.

Still, we should beat both of these teams if we show up with any quality.

They should play the Loon screech for the Nats tonight. If they don't win big it's because they didn't play the loon screech.
