That Cerrillo has never played a game for the US U20s while Servania was named to the "Team of the Tournament" at the CONCACAF Championships? I think this is just down to familiarity with the team for this first game. I personally wouldn't have started either, but whatever..........................this team can get the job done.
For six minutes, we've had a lot of chances to play a ball into players in the box. But only one of them really found an attacker, and that shot was rushed and hit right at a defender. Still, we look materially better.
I'm thrilled by how many times we've had players go at Ukrainian defenders 1v1 already. A really welcome change from most American teams.
Yep, looking quite good so far, but we need to carve out some more clear cut chances and take advantage of the edge in possession.
Also, this is my first time watching De la Fuente play a full game (not just highlights), and he is electric. Haven't seen the final product from him yet, but if he keeps developing, a winger like that would be most welcome in the senior pool.
Every single time they've tried to play Weah through they haven't been close. He's fast but he's not that fast.
Durkin needs to wake up from this nightmare of passing to the other team. Twice in a row stared at a wide open wide player, and confidently played it straight forward to someone in blue. Not even dangerous passes that didn't work, just bad.
Yeah, that's where things seem to be breaking down. They've had the ball in some promising positions, but gave it up when there was a misread/mishit from the midfield looking for Weah.
They're (hopefully) going to connect on one of these, but hopefullly sooner than later. Weah's gonna be gassed with all the chasing he's had to do.
