I suspect @RtD! will be in the lead after tonight; seems to have the most correct calls, thus far, in the 2nd round. So far in the 2nd round, Washington and Oklahoma St. have let me down. I'm hoping Michigan can pull out the win, they're a scrappy team. This prediction contest is fun, in that it gets me involved with a lot of other games, which I wouldn't normally be watching.
I pretty much gave up all hopes of winning this prediction contest when I stated UCLA will win the whole thing.
Standings after completion of the 2nd round games. One 3rd round game tomorrow, then 7 on Sunday. RtD! and stubifier have taken over the lead, but it's not a big one. Next comes lovethegsme, followed by Mills, followed by Crane65, dmthomas49, and Lord Kril. Looking ahead, I'm thinking we have some major changes yet to come -- and not good ones for those who had Virginia going really, really deep.
Bracket busted but totally amazed Washington State beat Virginia!! Go Pac12. GO BLUE!! Best wishes to Michigan tomorrow.
I doubt I'll stay in the lead for long. I have UVA in my final four, and I've got a lot riding on BYU upsetting Stanford. I'd love to see that happen... but it probably won't.
All predictors but 4 have Virginia in the Final Four. The smarties who don't are justdoit, GrassAlwaysGreen, lovethegsme, and Peter.
Team of Virginia can play much better, in my humble opinion. Don't you think? And talking of betting conversations, well, when I try to make any free betting tips to other people, they take them too aggressive and do not believe in chances of this or that team would win. It all goes to the endless argument. And after all, in 80 percents of all betting cases I win.
After the Round of 16, we have lovethegsme in the lead! (Do we have penalty points for typos?) And it's stepped down after that, one point at a time through #10. I'd say the next round for the contest focuses on UCLA v Florida State (with FSU having been given a home field boost by the Committee, rightly or wrongly) and Washington State v South Carolina, since those are the games where predictions differ. Right now, lovethegsme, who doesn't have Virginia in the College Cup, looks to be in good shape.
CP, I think you might have something off in your spreadsheet. I get slightly different totals than you. I have copied the top 10, according to my spreadsheet below. One quick one I noticed is that sweepsit should have 27 points in 1st round. Lovethegsme 105 Mills 104 DMTHOMAS49 103 McSkillz 102 Peter 101 stubifier 100 PlaySimple 100 Soccerhunter 99 cpthomas 99 Lord Kril 97 I uploaded my spreadsheet as a zip file so you can see it. I dropped a couple of the lowest scores, so it's easier to update going forward.
Aargh! Mills, you're right, I made a name error when entering actual results for this weekend's games, plus one other in first round predictions for sweepsit. The corrected standings are below. Mills, on GloveStinks, you show 8 missed in the first round games on your spreadsheet but have entered a score of 25, it should be 24. Otherwise correct, thanks for catching these. I like your spreadsheet.
Dang! I should have brag posted when i had the lead. LOL Proves the value of taking no more than 2 minutes to pick the entire bracket With Virginia out, I'm sure I'll finish mid-pack like I always do.
I'm wondering if Soccerhunter has a list of previous winners. It would be interesting to see if we get a repeat winner this year. Or, will it be someone new?
Does 2nd place count? I've finished in 2nd place in 2016 and 2018 (under "Millennium" which I no longer have access too). I did not submit an entry in 2017. If my current predictions pan out, I'll end up in 2nd place in 2019. I've attached a spreadsheet with the winners from 2014 to 2018.
Wow, I am also sursprised that you are @MiLLeNNiuM! Sometimes I feel people should find a way to advertise when they change their historical accounts here on BigSoccer! Well, nice to meet you again @MiLLeNNiuM/@Mills!
I lost access to my passwords and email. I asked the admins to reset my original account's email, but they can no longer change user emails. Oh well, new account it is.
Lets be honest, you were faking us and you should have admitted the past name. I hate fakes in this UCLA Bruins neighborhood...
Has the NCAA soccer committee ever taken into consideration an injury affecting the seeding UVa had no chance and Rutgers the same thing. Both teams had major injuries but still received favorable seeds
For at large selections, the Committee has specific factors it must consider and on which it must base its decisions. I don't think there's any doubt they also onsider those factors for seeds. However, an authoritative source told me it is "not unintentional" that those factors are neither mandatory nor limiting for decisions on seeding. So, the Committee could consider injuries as affecting seeding. A potential problem in doing that, however, is the lack of good information on injuries to players on all the teams that are potential seeds.
