Nice to see Halifax off to winning start and with Perea fit again it can help with the lack of goals. Stiff test on the weekend with Cavalry FC coming to town who clearly a step above the rest of the league. With both sides playing mid-week I suspect maybe a little bit of a hangover from both sides and maybe some changes in the line-up.

Cavalry keeps rolling, only club to win there so far.

Same story with Pacific as last week, could not keep goals out even though they got Staro back, but they are scoring even with Haber on the shelf, not that he did much scoring anyway.

So even though Y9 had a nice midweek match vs. Montreal, I'm going to give this to the Eddies 1-0.

More about Cavalry, they again did not look like themselves on set pieces in the match.

Good win for a tired Y9 squad, they used the same lineup as midweek, the Eddies were maybe not ready or used to the pitch.

Valour have had two and a half weeks off, how did that happen, who's idea was it.

Valour have released Hoyle for some reason: https://valourfc.canpl.ca/article/valour-fc-release-forward-stephen-hoyle

Halifax were outmatched by Cavalry on the weekend, other then Rampersad chance which was about a couple minutes before Cavalry score not much else was created and spent long periods of times defending because we couldn't control possession.

Forge, truly in the same class as Cavalry. I think Forge has a keeper problem, Henry or Roberts haven't been convincing

York9 seems to have figured out their midfield ahead of their game against Montreal. They will have to play much better defense though

Forge proving how dominant they are and Cavalry's dominant consistency sets the table for the CPL Championship between both teams.

The winner will represent Canada at the 2020 CONCACAF League.

This is great to hear. Selling players is going to be key to making the league viable.

Assuming Forge aren't paying that much for him right now, the return means that they can go after a more talented international player in return while developing others like him.

The league joining the international soccer economy is key!

Vancouver Whitecaps have their eyes set on a Cavalry player, most likely Pasquotti or Carmargo who won't be sold for cheap while they aren't earning that much in CPL. This will only strengthen Cavalry.

York9 seemed to have finally figured out their formation. Adjei is an epic fail and Gattas should have started all along. Jim Brennan took that long to get it right while we've been saying that for months... Gattas is the first CPL player to get a hat trick as they destroyed Halifax 6-2.

In Halifax defense, the travelling was brutal and Williams should no longer be their #1 keeper. If Oxner was the keeper against Ottawa Fury, they would have won that round.

Cavalry played their B team (no joke) and the game against Valour ended in a 1-1 draw after a questionable penalty was given to Valour. Valour new signings shows promise for the team though.

Forge and FC Edmonton ended in a 1-1 draw
*No hightlights yet at this time. Will watch the game in the morning

Forge FC will play Guatemala's Antigua FC August 1st in Hamilton. This will be a CONCACAF League game

July 27, 2019 York 9 FC vs HFX Wanderers FC game at York Lions Stadium
(York won 6-2 with Rodrigo Gattas scoring the first hat trick in CPL history, set record for most goals by one team (previous was 3) and most goals in a game by both teams).

Some say Stephen Hoyle is the most disappointing signing in CPL. I don't agree with that sentiment as Adjei's been worse. Well Hoyle's been let go already and it's time for Adjei to go as well.
