Oh man that layoff from Pepi for a Busio shot was very nice. I love Pepi's layoff play so damn much. Of course the shot was poor from busio though
This ref is calling wayy too much. That's the second time that Leyva has gotten the ball cleanly and gets called for a foul
I need Busio to take his chances at some point. Man, frustrating to see him boot it over/wide every time...
Great to see Sporting let him go. He's getting a ton of chances which can only help his game. Don't get why Kayo is in there over Stroud unless W.Ham didn't let him go. Never did get that clear. American soccer media zzzzzzzzz…..huh ? say what? What say you @bshredder ?
Goddamn it. Well, at least we're still creating chances. 2 missed handballs, Reyna sitter, Busio shanks, and game is 0-0 at HT.
0-0 HT US should be up, but the finishing has not been there. Canada with a little higher line of confrontation then the other sides the US has played. They've forced a couple of turnovers, but have not been able to be goal dangerous.
Not playing well. Wind is taking alot of balls even on ground long. Canada playing volleyball twice? One was definite. Arm way outside body. Had ball cleared off line and sitter off that. We had better chances. Canada is playing us tough. We need a spark offensively OCC? Stick with game-plan and get the goal to win. Judge, Pynadeth over Devries, Bello, Stroud for YWC makes this team alittle better.
US play has been good enough to win. Huge edge in shots and corners tells the story pretty well. However, Canada looks better than Panama and I think has enough chances that a surprise win is still a nonzero chance.
First half thoughts: - Dominating the game thus far and unlucky not to be ahead. Poor finishing, bad officiating, a slight lack of class from a few players in particular, and limited playmakers are the primary reasons it's still tied. - As I mentioned, poor half from the refs - 2 missed handballs and Canada is getting most of the 50/50 calls. A first half goal would have really helped to open the floodgates. - Canada reminds me of an old-school USMNT team playing against Mexico. Let's hope they don't steal a result.
Halftime thoughts: (missed the first 15 minutes) -Right now offensively we are a bit reminiscent of a basketball team struggling to break down a 2-3 zone. Lot of forcing the ball to the wings and hoping they are able to create something out of nothing; not enough attempts to play through the middle of the field. -Bit disconnected in possession. There's been a couple times where guys have had openings to make a run and Leyva is playing through balls with the intention of playing them forward, but guys have been either slow to react or expecting a direct pass and stopped moving/slowed down.
1-0 US 47' Busio with a square ball to Kayo who carries the ball about 15 yards to the right side of the box and beats the goal keeper.
