https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ady-for-rematch-with-canada-in-cu17-semifinal Canada’s roster features 16 players born in 2002 and four born in 2003. Almost all of Canada’s 20-player roster competes domestically at Canada’s three MLS academies: Montreal Impact (seven), Vancouver Whitecaps FC (six) and Toronto FC (five). Two players are based internationally -- goalkeeper Marc Kouadio at Florida’s Montverde Academy and midfielder James Dunning at Feyenoord in the Netherlands. Dunning appeared in two matches for the U.S. U-17 MNT last year in October, coming on as a sub against Argentina and starting against Mexico.
James Dunning only played 293 minutes for Feyenoord's U-17's this year. 5% of the minutes available. Ouch.
Are they archiving these games anywhere? Because I would like to watch them but it will be 1:30 AM here in Berlin and I doubt they will play it at the bars.
The more I thought about it, the more I say play the B-Team. If we lose with the B-team, we learn something and no big whoop. If we win, A-Team is rested for the final, hopefully against Mexico. I'd rather lose to Canada than watch an exhausted A-team get blasted by Mexico.
These are kids. They shouldn't be that exhausted. Saldana, the cb's, and gk didn't have to exert much effort against Panama. At least they could remain. I'm fine with a half A squad to have the best of both worlds. A near full changeover while thinking that team will still probably win is arrogant imo. Las; KHF, Scally, Gray, Cuevas; Saldana, Kayo, Fuentes; Reyna, Pepi, Freeman would suffice. Reyna is playing every game, but getting subbed, and he could be pulled early again if the U.S. secures a multi-goal lead.
Remember that huge outrage about Dallas not recognizing his talent when he left for Feyenoord? The longer I follow youth teams, the more I realize that even if our youth teams have no idea what they're doing, they still usually know way more than the fans. That was one of the dumbest things US fans have been triggered by in a while. I'll add @Thundering165's comment that you need a US (maybe just North American) IP address to watch the games from Europe on the Facebook page, but a free VPN like Hola for Chrome works just fine.
Some kids move overseas at young ages because they generally have talent and clubs overseas really want them - ie McKennie, Sargent, Pulisic. Even a few that didn't work out moved because they were rated highly - like Rubio Rubin or Nick Taitague (who I think isn't long for Schalke). But there are also a whole slew of kids who move overseas because they aren;t good enough for MLS homegrown deals but can find a "big" Euro team willing to put them somewhere within their youth setup. Zyen Jones is a good example. Junior Flores is another (this is all third hand - but enough time has passed: the legend is that his agent got him a BVB contract because he repped Neven Subotic as the time and actually held up a new deal with Subotic on the condition they gave Flores a deal too). But there are plenty of other examples. Not everyone within the system of big clubs is a prospect. Some are there more or less to make up numbers for the numerous rosters of youth teams that the clubs have to fill
I think its also conjecture to suggest that FCD "didn't rate" Dunning at the time, so let him leave. I don't know the backstory as to why he was with their premier team as opposed to their DA teams. Maybe FCD knew he wanted to move to Europe as soon as possible, so they didn't want to invest in him. Possible. [Same with Charlie Kelman] It is true that FCD has signed a bunch of kids in his general age group to either USL or MLS deals (David Rodriguez, Sealy, Pepi, and company. Beni Redzic and others are doing well in the academy.)
Ain't much rest for the Wickys, the wins don't grow on trees.... USA U17 Starting XI vs Canada #cu17 - Wicky makes six changes from the quarterfinal pic.twitter.com/qLqxfg34Bf— J.R. Eskilson (@JREskilson) May 14, 2019 OK, there are some changes, but it's more the half rotation that was proposed. I like it, enough. Leyva and Busio are over-worked. Don't think Busio is as vital as Wicky seems to believe, and would have preferred Leyva to get a rest while Saldana remained.

watching on UDN 11' - UDN says first real chance on goal. It comes from initiative of Fuentes(20) who has impressed me the most so far when it comes to mental aspect.
Missed a couple golden opportunities for goals (Reyna and Busio), in spite of struggling against Canada's press thus far, and losing most 50-50's.
OK, now, is it me, or is Kayo not very good at passing/controlling? Cause I always notice him, and he's always seemingly taking big touches.
