Hi guys, first post here. I'm not your traditional soccer fan, haven't followed the USA team much in the past besides world cups but am really getting into the team now.
Not really... The coach is simply passing around the captain title. Just keep it on MB until one of these young kids proves worthy. Making Ream captain seems a bit silly....
Welcome to the forum. It get a little hectic and petty in here sometimes but we all love the National Team.
What got you more inspired recently than before - missing the World Cup, the last shambolic Gold Cup, or recently losing to Venezuela 3-nil at home? Must like the underdog. Anyway, welcome to the forum, and the club.
Wow. I applaud you for drinking and smoking whatever it is and still having the ability to support an ever impending doom of a federation.
Ha, indeed, I do like the underdog. I just have been watching more soccer lately. The only thing that I can't stand is the constant flopping (acting like you've broken your ankle every foul) And the penalty kick on a foul call inside the box where the team wasn't even close to scoring.
The toxic culture mentioned elsewhere extends to NT message boards. Can't you just support your team? Arriola looked like he belonged on the pitch against Jamaica. He's also Wayne Rooney's bestie. The other two are rubbish admittedly. Roldan has surely had enough chances. Zardes is just holding that place down until someone better comes along.
That is what we keep telling ourselves but im not so sure 3G sees it the same. Guess we will get a better idea Sunday.
There's a nice series of still photos in the Tennessean: https://www.tennessean.com/story/sp...-gold-cup-semifinals-2019-updates/1643651001/
Not to mention appealing to the authority of Chelsea fans on message boards can go both ways. Some might think he's too good to have to play alongside other U.S. players. Others, not so much. During the last season I saw a fan on a Chelsea board compare the Pulisic signing to opening an eBay box and finding a brick. And of course the "only for marketing" thing is a pretty common refrain on such places as well. Myself, I'm good with just supporting the team. Pulisic is looking like a leader and his quality is standing out as expected for. But he's also benefited from others on the roster, including less celebrated MLS players. And most importantly I doubt the players themselves view things in this "I'm too good to be here" manner. I think it was against T&T where Zardes took a bump and McKennie stepped up to get into the opposing player's face like he was protecting Messi.
There are some fans in the Chelsea forums who are quite optimistic about Pulisic's arrival. And not due to the "marketing" money. It's possible such fans are mostly Yanks, of course.
