If I wanted to think rationally, I would not be a fan*atic. Emotions are inextricably involved. But you are right. Caleb Porter once told me that he would never leave Akron for another school. Never. I believed him. Porter is extraordinarily convincing in person. We will always love Caleb for that fidelity. I only hope that Jared Embick feels a similar bond and loyalty to Akron. Because we Zips certainly feel that way toward him. Embick is proving himself a master tactician and teacher. While perhaps not the very pinnacle of amateur soccer, Akron is still a really really good gig. I want Embick to retire here.
You got that call right! American have just announced that Zach Samol got the position of head coach. He has an impressive background and should have the respect of the players for his achievements as a player. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the 'muscleball' that is played in the Patriot League. http://www.aueagles.com/sports/m-soccer/2018-19/releases/20181221kedt48

Next up for UofL is Jamie Franks of Denver. His "fighting soccer" style at Louisville will be the death of the sport on campus. zzzzzzzz
Hearing John Michael Hayden is in at Louisville. He turned down Belmont. Other finalists at Belmont are from Xavier and New Mexico.

Well, called this one. Ha! How long has it been since an assistant with no HC experience got an ACC job? But, this is the right hire. Mr. Louisville Soccer will be great for the program.

I am told that SIUE is down to the last two candidates. One is a B1G assistant. Not quite sure I remember who the other is. Shocking that these departments continue to drag their feet in hiring.

I can see a need for this. I talk to many parents (and a whole bunch of kids) that don't know how the business of soccer really works. Of course, excluding the vast majority of people in this forum. I know of a few other coaches doing the same thing that Foley is doing. I don't know her but I wish her well helping young players find the best college fit for them.

It seems SIUE is going door to door in the Big 10 to find their guy from what I hear. Several assistants in the conference are in play which seems to be consistent with what other schools have done this year by hiring assistant coaches from other D1 institutions instead of D2 or NAIA head coaches. I believe you can eliminate the Incarnate Word opening as Fidler hired an assistant per their website with Coach Fidler giving quotes which lends me to believe he is more of a permanent fixture than just interim...https://uiwcardinals.com/news/2019/...-mccarthy-as-assistant-mens-soccer-coach.aspx
